Great vid, I saw the silver fox seg. y'all were referencing but due to it's length, 43 minutes, I saved it. And then you two go and drop the cliffnotes! Thanks again guys, esp. the training partner who gladly accepts a 10 minute ragdolling to help us understand this technique a little more. See you on the mats!

Solid take Coach. I had always defaulted to a hard sprawl, mostly due to good wrestlers and my failed guillotines, but this gives me new hope.

Could you talk and demonstrate a bit of safety precautions here? Some of the more serious injuries in MMA (paralysis) seem to have happened with guillotine used to counter takedowns, and in effect, seem to happen when you "DDT" the person. I noticed especially when practicing ala Danaher "High wrist" grip guillotines, it makes the cervical particularly vulnerable to getting cranked/snapped even when training... Thanks!

So in my early 20's a 6ft friend(ish) rugby player and i 6ft 4 (at time boxing) started play fighting in pub (wrestling)(ish) he shot for my legs twice 1st time i naturally pushed him to his all 4s. I saw / sensed he was angry and he went for same, quicker and harder so this time i again pushed / slammed him to his front, actually i sidestepped pulled and pushed, I knew he was pissed, he approached face up, i figured we were now fighting so i hit him 1-2, the rest of his friends (2-3) came at me, i hit most of them quickly, i was just about to pay for this when my friend jumped on me covering my head, more of my friends arrived and the whole thing was calmed down with manageress (whom i worked for). I learned from you the other day that a smart grappler will feint heigh before shooting in MMA. This was good to know and thin about, I ALWAYS hope to be 1st to the jab lead punch in a street fight, but am trying to become more aware of the trajectories fights can take ... thx This came to mind as you showed your chest slam, with inclination, no fear to go to ground, but for a puncher like me ... its the last place i want to be, especially in a street fight. I recall smallish skiny, stubble beard guy from Funker tactical saying, even if your good on the ground, i don't wanna be there anyway in a street fight ... i thought this was great insight. I always think training in graplling negates the likely hood of butts and bites at close range ... not mention damage from floor and obstackles ... may be ruining expensive cloths?

The only question I have is that does it not have to be in full guard? Cuz in Diaz vs Pettis it was a tight squeeze but Pettis only had one leg so it didn’t work.......
@siegemoo60145 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the squeeze and the will of whoever’s being choked. I’ve tapped from a guillotine being on bottom in halfguard

Coach, I'd be really interested in seeing HOW Khabib escaped a guillotine from Poirier during that fight. Justin had it DEEP. Khabib looked calm as hell - eventually worked his way free.
@juggernuts10005 жыл бұрын
twisted his hips around, from side to side, and was working his neck and chin inside the guillotine to create an opening and get his chin inside. once he was able to create an opening and stick his chin in there, thats it, the guillotine failed. of course its much harder to do than talk and 99.9999999% of the fighters would fail to escape that. in fact, i believe any other fighter would fail. but thats the technique.
@varunjitsboyaditya88815 жыл бұрын
Coach!! When you shoot in for a double leg, should your head be on the side of the lead leg?
@TeachMeGrappling5 жыл бұрын
There are a few people in the comment section that mention your head should always be on the inside. This is completely false. To simplify grappling and specifically the double leg takedown to it being a move that should only be done with the head on the inside or middle is to demonstrate a lack of knowledge and concepts. Like life there are always multiple ways. Don’t be dogmatic and put yourself in a box. You won’t be able to free yourself! There are many ways!!!

This is a grappling channel. Not all of my videos have something to do with Khabib. This video had to do with a guillotine vs a double leg. I didn’t make this because Khabib was going to shoot a double and get caught in a guillotine. How would I know? I’m a grappler... I love that Khabib is champ.
