So the purple belt would have won on points via dominant positions under BJJ rules? I guess it's a roll in the gym and not necessarily taking place at competition intensity.

I heard he also trained in catch wrestling under Ahmed Reese. Have he competed in catch wrestling?!
@TeachMeGrappling21 сағат бұрын
no I don't believe so... but yes he and his father trained with Ahmad.
@tichtran66411 сағат бұрын
@TeachMeGrappling So he has done amateur wrestling, submission grappling, sambo, and beach wrestling. He reminds me of a woman who done judo, freestyle wrestling, sambo, MMA ( trained BJJ and Luta Livre), and beach wrestling. Her name is Laetitia Blot.
@tichtran66411 сағат бұрын
And she competed in world championships of judo, freestyle wrestling ( 2017 uww championship in Paris), sambo, MMA ( Hexagone MMA championship), and beach wrestling ( 2024 beach wrestling world series).

True but also GnP also opens him up to counters. If he continues to come in to train, my goal is to teach him to attack. There was way too much stalling.

I believe the student even though he had a bad day that time he got upset I believe he has great heart and competitive drive and spirit sometimes people wired this way do blow over small things sometimes non of us are perfect

I have to agree with the other commenter. He had a bad day, who knows how it went, and he was out of sorts. Every one of us has had those days. People think I’m so relaxed and confident, but I’ve had days I come home and wish I could have done something better. I’m embarrassed for myself. 😂.

i mean...a purple belt has probably been training 4-6 years....an olympic wrestler has probably been on the mat 15+ years....
@kallepikku4991Күн бұрын
Obviously the Olympian won the wrestling match with his +15 years experience. Pinned his opponent for 37 mins out of 38. Clear victory there. But this was a submission grappling match. He only has 5 weeks experience there, going against veteran with +5 years experience. Not bad for a rookie.
@Submission_FighterКүн бұрын
AND the wrestler was 65 pounds heavier, on top of his years of Olympic training. He had an absolutely HUGE advantage. It was actually the purple belt who was more impressive for going the distance with him.
@davidhajiev5853Күн бұрын
@@kallepikku4991 the Olympian had been doing sambo and submission wrestling since he is a kid and is a brown belt in bjj by the way

I am 47 and weigh 155lb, I do have a purple belt, but many younger bigger guys will use the physical advantage against me and that is ok, where I find it’s not ok is when someone completely wrecks me when I am clearly not competitive. I was rolling recently with a big guy. At the end of the round he tells me you concede positions too easy, I answered I am just trying to get out of this roll in 1 piece bro. Dude looked at me a bit frustrated because he felt it was my way of saying he is being a dick.

I would like to add my 2 cents in and say , you do have a spinning back kick and a spinning side kick . You also have a spinning hook kick, spinning crescents, axe and whipping kicks . All while turning your back .

It's a very powerful kick. But if you miss, you end up in a compromised position, become open for shots or a takedown. Timing, setting it up, and not over leaning into it are important. Great kick for knife defense too.
