Wonderful! I made that kit as a kid in the '70's, but I had rubber band power, of course. Great electric conversion! :)

Sweet model! Great job, thanks for posting! If they had these electric systems when I was building the guillows models as a kid, I'd have put them in as well. Now, I just build foam board planes from flite test site designs. Much quicker builds, especially after crash - less time invested in a model that doesn't survive.

Hi Ray, thanks, we have the Space Programme to thank for the miniaturisation that we enjoy so much today. Foam board planes are great but I enjoy the build process as much as flying, if they get broken I enjoy the repair process as well 😁👍

Knowing how difficult it is to build those Guillow kits as well as you built this Spitfire: much respect. But, I will keep mine safely suspended by thread from the ceiling of my cave workshop...

Congratulations, Cliff! You gave me quite a start with those not-yet-trimmed ailerons at the first take off, but that's part of the thrill. I happen to have re-maidened my bi-plane yesterday after two weekends' worth of repairs. So I can feel my thumbs itching to take over while watching your video. As a matter of fact, I'm heading out right now to do some banner towing. Your Spitfire is really a fine piece of modelling. If I may: what sort of material are you using for the cover? It looks like some sort of paper. Would you recommend using it on bigger planes, say glider in the 3 m wingspan range? Thanks and cheers, Frédéric

Hi Frederic, thanks, maidens are exciting for sure, I wouldn't recommend putting tissue on a large model these days, once upon a time that's all we had but it's vulnerable to damage by twigs etc and a lot more work, I'd stick with iron on coverings 👍

Well you have made it a feasible proposition Cliff the Guillows Spitfire has a new lease of life with micro radio,I have one of these to build as well and it will be suitably converted as yours,where did you get that brown base tissue to do the camouflage please ?

Fantastic Cliff, you said in the video that she didn't really want to perform a roll, maybe a barrel roll, is that due to the amount of throw in the ailerons? For a first flight that was piggin marvellous, keep it up. 👍

Thanks Gary, I think she'll probably roll with a bit more effort on my part, yes more throw would certainly help but she turns on a sixpence (small out of circulation British coin in case you don't know 🙂) so there may be potential with a bit more speed etc 👍

Don't really need those landing gear on there. Plus it will look more authentic while flying without them (Battle of Britain dog fighting). I'd trade the landing gear for a new spinner. Otherwise, "Bloody good show!"
