she does indeed fly as this up tight maiden flight shows.i did manage to carpet bomb our runway :)so far so good time to complete the build and detail the model.
this build uses 4 9g 2200kv motors with 5030 gws 3 blade props,4 10 amp hobbywing escs a turnigy bec ,a 2200mah 30c battery,a gforce R610 reciver,2 5g servos for rudder and elevator and a 9g servo for the ailerons. there was 70% left in the battery after this flight. Thanks to all of the input from members @ RC Groups. here is a link to the build log www.rcgroups.co...

I don't care if anyone thinks that a comparison of what I've seen here and the duties of a test pilot isn't apt. Sure, a test pilot can die, and you are not in "danger". But the hours "wasted" if you have a bad crash can feel like a version of death. I've built scale in rubber power and on the few occasions that I muffed it, I was fairly shaken. So congrats on doing something that most of us only dream of - nice one! If you put in more powerful motors and the probable necessity higher capacity and heavier batteries, would it be a net gain and overcome that it has become more of a bear to handle? Control line can easily take more power and weight. But R/C is no comparison, from what I've seen. And to land it on rough asphalt? Kudos all way round!

Wow - Awesome flying skills getting it down so smoothly as you did. It's my opinion that this Guillows kit was more for display purposes (..or at best, brick on a string CL flying). Flying this RC and that fast landing a testament to your skill. My guess is even after you got it fully in trim its still a hot and twitchy bird. (With my skills it would soon crash .. and one error would reduce it to a pile of unrepairable sticks and tissue!)

I have had this model, un-assembled, for close to 30 years. Now that I am retired think I might give it a go.

Impressive, I would think the latest 2021 equipment might allow for a lighter build but impressive just the same and you got it down in one piece!

the port spin clock wise and starboard are counter clockwise. I figure it was hit bit a bit of a wind gust.i'm glad that it had the power to get out of it and enough control to correct. Thank You for your comment.

As an long time r/c flyer I can say that some planes are inherently difficult to handle no matter what you do .He did a great job flying and landing the plane.beautiful build.looks like he has counter rotating props.

Great first flight and a super smooth landing! Since the gear stayed down and when retracted the wheels stow forward, could this have been throwing off your CG? Can you send me some info on how you do the retracts? I've wanted to do an RC conversion on Guillow's kits since the old days before micro servos. Kudos to you!

Beautiful workmanship. I just received this model from an E Bay purchase. I wish to do it similar to your most excellent model. I can't decide what to do for power. Can you tell me what motors you used? I built a lot of Guillows kits over 50 years ago and am just now picking it up again but with RC now. Love their kits. Feeling of satisfaction when completed.

Thanks!! its funny how much the B-24 was like this B-17 on maiden!! both banked hard right for different reasons and with both models i cut the throttle and the tail dropped and i said " its tail heavy"! but really the C/G was right on and it is just how these multi motor models react to cutting the throttle. gosh, it has already been 6 years since i built the american beauty!!

Wow...six years ago.. Just came across your Vidd. I should say many of your vids.hahaha.. I just watched episode #7 of your maiden b-24 liberator and yes you said it !! That looked like a crazy maiden flight.. Especially all the down elevator u had to give it to get it corrected... My hat goes off to you again for great flying u did to get it all trimmed out and especially not given it a dirt napppp first time out.I was really worried for a second there, when it seemed like it was getting kinda far away from you... But you had to up high enough As I say to have 1 or 2 mistakes high enough in the air to save it from crashing.. That b-24 liberator is such a nice plane and as u said a 6 month build. So I'd hate to of seen it crash.. And also don't think that since you've did so many guillows how to Build's that its getting old and you've got nuttin left to show everyone... Keep umm comin.. I enjoy the hell outta of them, as so many others do to.. You know as I said before, a guy can always learn something new when watching the vidds.. Hell ive watched the same episode 3-4;times just to perfect on certain things.. I need to master aileron installation and I seen some guys build scratch built retracts.. Have u done scratch built retracts??? I would love to learn how to master that.. I just luvv to build and fly.. Hahaha.. Anyway. Take care and keep those vidds comin....👍👍👍👍✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈✈

Wow, that's got to be the smallest four engine R/C plane I've ever seen. Well done, sir! It's almost majestic. How hard are these Gullows R/C conversions to fly? You seem to have a few of them.
@jagdpanther9
@jagdpanther9 10 жыл бұрын
Thank You for your comment! this 17 model flys great as I learned in this video you just need to keep the power on or it will fall out of the sky there is really no glide mode.my other conversions are very rewarding as well.the 500 series are more tricky to fly but the 400 series 109 and p-51 are very pleasant to fly.
@DFX2KX
@DFX2KX 10 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I could tell she didn't like to glide mode much. I'm wagering the lift-to-weight ratio isn't very forgiving on any of them. Just looking at going from rotor (Trex 450) to fixed wing, with something little enough to fly in the big yard in front of the apartment. Gullows kits are a lto cheaper to ship, then say, a Bixler or other foamie. The downside being, there's always that risk of bringing home a million peices. Are those parkzone kits for sale without the planes? I've gnot found them around. That's for the info!

yes. I am obsessed. since I was a kid in the 70's I dreamed of converting these guillows models to r/c. so now I'm a kid in 2015 making these dreams come true. it is an awesome thing to be able to live it, to see technology advance to the point that we are living in.
