I've been yearning for something that scratches the itch I have that can usually only scratched by Bach's organ preludes and fugues. I finally found it, Guilmant was a contrapunctual genius!

Wow! I would love to hear this played on a Cavaille Coll ! A. Guilmant is one of my favourites!

AMAZING!!! I have NEVER heard this piece before, but I was in tears by the time we reached the end. Excellent combination of music and organ. Klais instruments are my all-time favorite German organ.

Beautiful piece and well played! I like this version, Ben van Oosten played this one also in St. Ouen, but the recording of this one is better and has more clarity and articulation.

When I get to Germany, may I come visit you and your marvelous instrument, perhaps sit at a masterclass? Working on a project for Herkuleesaal Munich.

BRAVO for the composition & composer - for the musician - for the instrument and the acoustic in which it thrives - and to GOD who made them all.

Very nice fugue indeed!

More than "nice ", I'd say. It proves that counterpoint can convey intense emotion when structured in this quasi symphonic way.

This is a great fugue. I liked your interpretation of it as well. Any chance sheet music is available from you?
@randompianistis46704 жыл бұрын
Dallin Bissett just go to IMSLP, Guilmant page and complete score

This is an awesome piece of writing matched perfectly by a flawless interpretation and dazzling technique. Guilmant is rather out of fashion nowadays because, perhaps, his inspiration isn't consistently brilliant. This section of the 5th sonata is an exception and cam stand alone as a recital tour de force.

Did you have played one concert at church S. Ignazio on Rome? Because i remember one organist Schneider on S.Ignazio organ Tamburini with 3 manuale for one concert. I was organist sometime on basilica S.Francesca romana near Colosseum.

I'm sorry, I never played a recital in S. Ignazio.
@Frost679155 жыл бұрын
great performance! do you know the name of the chorale?
@BernhardSchneider13095 жыл бұрын
As I know the melody of the chorale was newly invented by Guilmant, similar to C. Franck's Chorales.

Sounds like the BWV 577 "Gigue" fugue subject.
@jtoddmusic70903 жыл бұрын
It starts out that way, certainly (although in a different meter) but morphs into something else. I liked the subject.

Whats the Name of the Choral?
@BernhardSchneider13094 жыл бұрын
It is not a certain Choral. The melody was invented by Guilmant, like César Francks chorals.
@MichiHeissel4 жыл бұрын
@@BernhardSchneider1309 im Internet habe ich aus verschiedenen Quellen gelesen, dass der Choral zur Fasten-/Osterzeit zählt... demnach muss es doch einen Lied - Text geben?
@BernhardSchneider13094 жыл бұрын
Die Frage tauchte weiter unten schon einmal auf. Mir ist kein solcher Choral bekannt und bisher konnte niemand einen Hinweis auf eine zitierte Choralmelodie geben. Ich lasse mich aber gerne belehren.
@Lucius_Chiaraviglio3 ай бұрын
The first part especially sounds like a church hymn.
