It always astonishes me how well Guilmant could take up an existing piece and totally made it into his own. Very well played, I like the full use of the different reeds. Thanks!

A fine performance, and a particularly spectacular visual effect of coupling, seeing maybe 30 or 40 keys activating on the keyboard from Jonathan's 10 fingers (and 2 feet)!

The enormity of the great cathedrals is almost incomprehensible to me. I saw a documentary once, on the making of them. But then to see the ruined examples in Scotland and Ireland, the shame of it. And, to see a living example on a trip to Cincinnati had me so choked up with emotion, I had to leave the edifice to compose myself.---Thank-you both for sharing. This is a safe place for me to appreciate your work.

Jonathan, I always enjoy your performances. You have a great sense of the symphonic style and find the best places to show us! You always post good playing. Thus, I'm disappointed to see that some 12 people of about 800 viewers of this video put a "thumbs down": What the hell? Maybe a lot of envious organists! Keep up the good work.

You will never satisfy everkbody.... and.... there are those that want to dis the performer to draw attention to themselves..... One time I saw a review of a rolls royce phantom..... the writer said it was just "shoddy junk" and that it wasn't worth buying..... it was obvious that the writer had never ridden in a rolls let alone own one.... i.e. an impostor.....

That's my number 1 favourite short piece of organ repertoire ( the other being The Whitlock Sonata). I first heard it played on the organ of Giggleswick school chapel in the 1980's and the best recording I have is the late John Scott playing it at St Pauls, in London. Well done for a superb rendition

In the Middle Ages, it was a cursed cathedral, it got burnt down several times during the Hindred Years War. That's why the choir is higher than the nave, it is more recent, in Flamboyant Gothic style.

Such a beautiful cathedral, great playing and the organ sounds wonderful. BUT that Pascal Quoirin organ looks horrible. Why would the make such a modern'e looking organ in such a beautiful historic cathedral. It looks very much out of place. They should have KEPT the original façade of the old organ and use as much of the old pipes as possible without destroying the ambiance of the historic cathedral.

Fantastic playing! But I wonder 💭 what the lack of thought was behind the 6 stops of the pedal section??? Also it’s a very harsh instrument... I think it needs more mellow voicing to balance the very brash reeds.

I am a great fan of Scott but here I don‘t agree at all. The fugue is of course played very much too fast, and the final theme could be more heartbreakingly majestic , so also a little bit slower and the theme not detached but in linked notes. It is a kitschi peace of organ, so dare go to the end and not be afraid of people saying it is schmaltz, or slushy. I stand to these critics and play the piece to the Maximum.
