This anime is severely underrated. Yes, the plot becomes stupid halfway through the show, but the concept was amazing for it's time.

​@@nightlight3169 spoke my mind. The first season (first 12 episodes) was legit fun to watch and had a decent story. SAO is the reason I played my first MMO and fell in love with the genre. That 1st season was the reason I chose AI and Data Science as my major in uni. I admit the second season was irrelevant. But Alicization has a decent story, and I like the turn it's taking... I know people are gonna trash me in the comment section, but back in 2012, there were not as many good shows out there.

The show got sort of worse half way through but this is one of my favorite series/movies when it comes to sound and music design. It’s up there with some other known titles such as Shingeki no Kyojin, Baccano, Angel beats, Given, Cowboy bebop, Psycho pass, Kimi no na wa and any other Shinkai work you can think of, Koe no Katachi. It competes with even osts from main stream media as well like Interstellar, Apocalypse now and pulp fiction just to name a few. In other words, this anime have some damn good sound design and music
