And while I agree that he was probably just sniffing the food on his mouth, it reminds me of the way my piggy groomed her cagemate like this and laid down next to her while she was dying, so I feel like it could also be an empathetic gesture in some cases. It's been months and she nows spends her time napping where she passed away despite having a huge cage for herself 🥲 they might be dumb animals, but their emotionnal intelligence is real
