Man. I was homeless for a year and a half and STILL kept my cats. When I finally realized I wasn't going to be able to keep them in the car with me anymore, I gave them to a cousin. Six years later, that STILL kills me. The idea of just leaving two defenseless animals to die is utterly alien to me. It makes me want to cry just thinking about it.

@@griffinodavis Did you even watch the video? On top of that, do you know anything about cats and ecosystems? They are a complete disaster for local ecosystems when let outside or feral, equivalent to natural disaster levels of decimation to local wildlife populations. Cats alone kill billions of birds per year, and they even hunt and kill animals they don't even eat. Please do not ever advocate for people to simply turn loose their cats if they can't care for the, or to let them wander at all. I got my rescue GP, Peanut, from a friend's son...who got him from a dumpster here in hot, dry Phoenix, AZ. Even then he wasn't' being cared for. His tiny 'cage' was atrocious and he was in over an inch of maggot infested poop. Now he lives semi-free range in my office and has bonded with my dog. After the upsetting time they've surely had, to be able to relax because of the things you provided.... wonderful. I'm not very familiar with guinea pigs but they have enough similarities to rats that it seems obvious to me these two little ones are VERY relieved to be warm and safe and given positive attention. Not to mention PUMPKIN! A wonderful little rescue story!
@paullewis94732 жыл бұрын
Its so frustrating that this happens, there are so many places and people that will take unwanted pets and even here in the UK when we were in lock down all the rescue places managed to keep going, I'm sure it was the same in the US. Plus there are always independent specialists for most types of pets who specifically take and rehome all types of animals, a quick search online is all it takes. Guinea pigs are such great pets and these two are adorable and seem very tame too so they must have been well cared for at some point.

Cookie looks a lot like my first pet! I just brought him home from a friend who had baby guinea pigs. And lo and behold the discussion about pets was over and I could keep him. He developed a tumour in his throat several years later and I was still a preteen when the vet and my dad tried to explain why euthanasia would be the kindest solution: It was very traumatic - but I didn't leave him until he was dead in my hands. - Thank you very much for all you do!

The only halfway “reasonable” way I could imagine this happening to these sweet little guinea pigs is that some kid bought them off of Craigslist without asking their parents and then their parents said no. These two seem so friendly even though you only just got them so I can’t imagine why someone would give them up. Seems like their previous home (before whoever abandoned them) socialized them well (I’m not familiar with guinea pigs but I do know that prey animals tend to be anxious especially around new people). I’m sure you’ll get them into a fantastic home, and they’ll be lucky to have these two

It had over 30 parakeets and the cage was meant for four birds. Parakeets had plucked their feathers out and The dogs also were allowed to run around in the store. I don’t know what to do, I feel guilty just leaving all of those poor animals in such a tight space- got any advice…?

Heartbreaking how some people can be so callous to animals. Whoever left them out by the dumpster should be charged with animal cruelty. Shouldn't be too hard to ID them, given that the former owners placed the animals with them just 2 weeks ago?

I was thinking it's possible the original owners could be the ones that abandoned them if they weren't able to adopt them out. I've personally experienced someone doing this in my neighborhood this past summer with a guinea pig and bunny. Somehow, they both ended up in front of my apartment building and I spotted them as I was heading out to the store one day. I captured both and contacted the local humane society who came and picked them up.
