Sorry if this comment is too late. I only feed my guinea pigs red and green leaf lettuce. Too much Calcium may cause bladder stones. Romaine lettuce may be totally fine and not cause any issues, but I prefer to stay on the safe side. Broccoli can cause stomach upsets, but as long as you don't overfeed you should be fine. Again, I'm sorry if this comment is too late.

i know you can feed them a lot of fruit and veggies, but my GP's that i used to own when i was a kid seemed quite happy with a diet of pellets, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots and apples. of course a ton of water too to wash things down all day. best pets ever and so easy to look after !

NeZ CooL it is called rumble-strutting! it is a sign that your guinea pig is annoyed and wants to be left alone. it is completely normal though and every pig does it.

That's not right. There are different types of purrs. Some are for dominance displays or fear, but if it happens whenever you pet her it is likely a happiness purr. Listen to clips of different guinea pig noises and their meanings and learn how your piggie communicates

I did use to give Raz (my last guinea pig) a very small slice of radish as a treat when I was growing radishes in addition to the greens. The radishes never seemed to bother him and were his favorite treat over asian pears and dandelions. However, I stress that I only gave him fresh radishes (either that I grew myself or when my mom bought fresh local radishes that didn't have any pesticides and stuff) in very small quantities as a very rare treat, like a 1/4 inch slice of a small radish once a week max.

Hi I have just found white spots on my two girl pigs cage! Please help! My pigs have too much calcium in their diet and I don't know where I've gone wrong. I feed meadow hay and a small amount of wheat twizzy farm and oats in the morning with 1 cup cucmber/bell pepper/lettuce and sometimes grapes In the evening I feed the same amount of vegetables with 1/4 cup of burgess excel? You don't really have to chop up celery into small bits like that. I do it so my piggies won't fight over who gets it, but their teeth are incredibly strong. If they couldn't chew down celery strands there's no way they would be eating hay! Bell peppers are also ok to give the entire pepper. The seeds are my piggies favorite part! They often vacuum them up right from the palm of my hand. As long as you're not giving them larger seeds (like the pumpkin) it's not an issue for them to eat.
