"A friend is one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be."
Guinea pigs should be kept in groups of 3, 4 or even more animals. The absolute minimum are 2, as they're herd animals. Keeping a single guinea pig is never acceptable.

Thank you for this video! We definitely need more of these as I noticed a 'trend' going on in the KZbin guinea pig community stating that guinea pigs can be content and happy living alone side by side i.e. divided through a grid, which is wrong in so many ways because they can never establish a bond with each other through grids. And a bond is what social animals really need - not just some social interactions through grids.

I totally agree, but what if the guinea pigs can’t declare a stable bond? It’s dangerous keeping guinea pigs together that have drawn blood more than once- Genuinely speaking what should somebody do??

@@miah5975 find a new partner for both. Guinea pigs are very social animals but just like with us humans, some guinea pigs just cant stand each other. Oftentimes they don't get along because the introduction wasn't well planned. Seperate them for a while and reevaluate what could have been the problem: Group constellation? Personality? Age? Cage Setup? Space during the introduction and after? Health condition? Any other stress factors? If a potential factor can be found and changed, you can try the introduction once more after keeping the pigs seperated for a good while and removing said factor. Otherwise, try find new partners. I have luckily never been in a situation like this and I hope I never find myself in one because it must be heartbreaking to return an adopted guinea pig, but no guinea pig should stay alone :) That's why it's recommendable to put a lot of thought into partner selection and the introduction

@@miah5975 In my country's guinea pig community, it's always recommended to neuter your male guinea pigs, even if they live with other males, and you have no intentions to put them with females. You won't even be able to adopt an intact male from a rescue or shelter, because they all neuter their males before adopting them out. The reason is to not only prevent breeding, but to also have a backup plan (pairing them up with a female) in case they don't get along with other males. I myself have a male herd for over 7 years now and all of my males are/were neutered, even though I have no females and my boys never had a falling out. Neutering is the only effective way to prevent your male guinea pigs from living a life as a solo pig. Even if you have a pair of males that do get along, you are likely to encounter some issues if one of them passes away, and you have to bond your remaining male with a new one. Again, you won't have this issues if you have a neutered male, as you always have the option to pair him up with a female.

I learned this the hard way. Never should be left without Bud's. My Lazurus was alone like 10 months. She would cry in my arms and talk to herself sometimes. I was VERY concerned about her well being, because she started loosing weight. I went to the pound and got her a roommate lady guinea pig who's a little older than Laz'. The change is remarkable! She's so much better off! I have to go before I cry.l

BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!! It made me cry to see these PRECIOUS little creatures, SO WONDERFULLY MADE BY GOD ALMIGHTY, living their best life with a careful and informed owner!! I have 5 piggies, I love them, and after I got my first one, I started researching their care, and got more, they're sows, and got them whatever they needed, a very large enclosure, God pellets, unlimited good quality hay, different types of enrichment, and love and care! If you neglect watching them closely, they can be sick, and by the time you notice, it might be too late, so health checks and regular nail clippings, plus an occasional bath or bum bath is necessary also. Great video, I had previously subscribed to your channel!!

We have two sisters, adopted from a friend that saw ‘ on the internet’ to remove the male from the new family within 4 weeks. Needless to say a second litter came along. We had planned to adopt one girl from the first litter but their daughter fell in love with her so we wet to gat a girl from the second litter to pair with our two year old Bubbles. But the ‘ runt of the tater came over in front of my wife wanting to be picked up- after I had already picked out one of her sisters: so we ended up with both sisters. Sadly Bubbles crossed the Rainbow bridge a couple weeks ago but the sisters are going great and endless joy for us.

I just hate it when they fight and that annoying rumbling sound the male pigs make trying to dominate the others. especially at night time because when I'm trying to sleep. I don't care if they do it in the daytime when I'm up it doesn't bother me as much because the TV is on and there are other noises during the day.
@roamfreeofficial

@@roamfreeofficial hey I don't understand how some people are scared of guinea pigs. In their minds they think because they are rodents they are like a rat without a tail. My pigs are so sweet and cute they remind me to puppies the way they act sometimes. Mine will lay across my lap and go to sleep and don't want me to put them down. Well everyone has their own opinion but guinea pigs are one of the best pets after dogs and cats in my opinion.
