I never would’ve imagined that it took 127 takes to get the right “Here’s Johnny” imagine how weird those words sounded after saying them that many times
@davis45554 жыл бұрын
Stanley Kubrick, the director, was known to psychologically punish his actors to get the exact performance he wanted out of them. He made them do the scene 127 times so they would look and act emotionally and physically exhausted, especially Shelly Duvall. It really shows, and things like that done theoughout the filming process makes her whole performance really good. However, she said that she's proud of the movie, but would never work with Kubrick again. She later admitted that working on The Shining weighed heavily in her decision to retire from acting.

9:42 I would be suspicious of the hand plate thing, when I was 8 I went to a science museum with my mom and brother and there was a little plate for you to put your fingers on. Me being a dumb 8 year old didn't even read the experiment before placing my fingers on the pad and pushed down as hard as my little arms could on this plate. It was an electric shock plate. I haven't forgotten to read before touching things since.
What I like about your videos is that you don't Rush through the museum, and you stay focused on the displays as if I was there looking at them items. Thanks for doing such a good job I look forward to seeing where your off to next.

I’m pretty sure that the “Here’s Johnny” part was just improvised on his part, and the primary reason why it had so much takes was because Jack Nicholson, as I recall, is a former fireman or some sort so he easily breaks down the prop doors, to the point they had to use a real one Another is because Kubrick is a perfectionist, and really easily gets pissed if one of his actors makes a tiny mistake
