Excellent introduction, very useful to popular musicians who are learning to use the Dorico platform. We would love it if there were more Dorico videos about scoring chords, scoring tablature and drum notation. Thanks 🎸🎵 🥁

I’m a 62 year old music school educated professional guitar player/guitar teacher. I’ve been using Finale for many years to write charts for gigs and also to be able to create instructional materials that include both standard notation, tab and show chord diagrams for the specific voicing of the chord that I’m trying to teach. I also always use Finale’s jazz font which has a much better look to it for charts I write for myself and others for gigs. At this point, I’m faced with the sad news that Finale will no longer exist and they are directing their customers towards Dorico Pro. But what I’m seeing in this example in your video has me concerned that Dorico has not consulted with any serious guitar players to address the features a guitar player would require to make a professional looking score. At 2:31 into your video, I see a chord diagram for a Gm/F chord (shown as /F). The voicing shown would be nearly impossible to play on the guitar. You would need a 6th finger to play that voicing. In addition, the low F note below the staff is not contained in the voicing of the chord shown above the staff. And a simple number to the left of the chord to show the fret position instead of “fr. 10” to the right of the chord as shown in the chord diagram in this example. There is even a Cm chord that needed to be placed higher than the other chords (above the lyrics “right back to the young”) because of the fr. 3 next to the /D chord. Anyway, I hope Dorico will consult with a serious professional guitar player that plays a variety of styles and that teaches as well to provide Dorico with what a guitar player/teacher would need to create a professional looking piece. I studied guitar in the early 80’s at USC in Southern California. There have been countless other music school trained guitarists that have studied in the years since my era from various institutions so there are many of us out there who would love to find a notation program that addresses all of the unique tools required to create a professional looking guitar transcription or chart. I’d be happy to provide input if anyone at your company is interested. Otherwise I hope Dorico will seek input from a fellow professional guitarist (not only a classical player, but a guitar player that is aware of the endless possible chord voicings that a jazz guitar might use, or the bends, pull offs, hammer ons and slides that a rock, country or blues player might use. Or the alternate tunings that would require adjustments to a tab staff as well. Anyway it would be nice to find a program that would provide results that match what we see in guitar magazines and instructional books.

How do I get Dorico to Show the Tuning of the Fretted instrument? The fact that the ability to show open strings tuning isn't present is ridiculous..
