I saw KWS in Austin, Tx at Antone's a couple of years ago and he was AMAZING!! He is not SRV but a parallel talent for sure. Plays with a passion and fury most can't fathom.

KWS is a great player and can hold his own. Yes, he's no SRV, but who is ? No one will ever ever ever play a guitar like SRV. He was truly a blues god

He may be a SRV imitation, but he's the best one I've seen. That and you can hear a bit of the Allman Brothers/Southern Rock (some licks and the singing), but that might just be me. Pretty cool.

Here's the deal on the connection of KWS with SRV. When he was 7 years old, his father, a local radio personality, promoted a concert in their home town for which SRV was the headliner. Kenny got to be back stage, met SRV and Stevie set him up on an amp case at the side of the stage where he could watch the show. That was how and why he was so taken with SRV and his music. The following Christmas, his dad got him a guitar and the rest, as they say, is history.

ArmadilloMan1948 ... but his GRANDMA got a whole bunch of plastic guitars from her S&H Stamps she collected and gave them to him when he was like 4 or 5, and he stated he went through them like Candy!! Today he has his own Signature Series Stratocaster out there which definitely beats the little plastic strings he started out on... But I love watching him play on his favorite "extension", his 1961 Fender Stratocaster! It's pure love he puts into it!

My son introduced me to KWS’s amazing playing about 16 years ago. Then in late 2005, my son and I went to see the band at a Blues den in downtown Salt Lake City. His music and the passion he has for playing it are impressive. His ability to form whole paragraphs on the fly puts him on a par with the greats of the past. I’ve never seen Noah playing; that’s new for me and I’m digging it.

I can see where some of you think he sounds like srv. The begginning of this song starts out like srv's pride and joy. But seriously its Texas Blues, its got that shuffle sound.

i like his style, he plays hard on the strings. Saw Bonamassa a couple of times and he's not as natural like this guy. In fact the third time i saw him i went away earlier, because it was all show kinda acting. Even prefer Walter Trout over Bonamassa, but this guy is in another league, SRV league.

@AntiOwnage That's actually what i was thinking haha i think Noah has powerful vocals, as does Gregg Allman and Kenny has plenty of different influences in his playing.. The SRV licks just stand out a little more at times. I could definitely see the Allman Bros. playing this song though, not such a bad observation!

@kev3SG Not to mention his fashion sense definately is more bareable ;P I'm sure as he gets older he'll start to branch out into his own style - listening to SRV in his early days, he was the EXACT copy of Clapton. You could A/B them and you couldn't really tell.

Everybody is entitled to there own opinion ,Kenny Wayne Shepherd don't show off man ,it's just his style and of course he is going to sound a bit like SRV ,that's what he grew up on man.Kenny stands on his own and should be respected for that and as a HUGE fan of SRV I think he would say the same.As far as what the ear Deaf lady said about Noah's voice ,ever herd of a pill called "shut the f--k up" ?.

Get over it. SRV is dead, has been for many years, and KWS is one of the best bluesmen out there. Enjoy before he last, and turns into a SRV
@Beerchasers12 жыл бұрын
I like it and I'm a fan....Only because Stevie is dead. However, we do have Mato who could wipe the floor with this guy and give Stevie a run for his money. But for some reason, the industry will not recognize him.

SRV got it from Jimi who got it from Chuck Berry who got it from T-bone Walker who got it from somewhere else. Get a life and just listen to the music. Kenny and Noah are top league bluesman and they can burn the house down. Full stop

He's actually playing "Pride and Joy" with exact same chords. The only difference is tuning, he is playing in E tuning while SRV plays in Eb.

Like most guitarists, he's far too concerned with showing off here than playing a decent song. There was far more depth to the album version and in earlier live versions of this song. Granted, there's just he and Noah, but its not much of an excuse. Ever since (starting writing the album, I assume) "The Place You're In," he seems to have lost any regard for the music in favor of being a guitarist. I no longer find him as interesting as I once did.
