Being old and from Montréal and having a friend who was a roadie for Kim at the time, I got to see him live front row a few times. Even had dinner with him at a diner once. Trip finally learning to play this, thanks 🙏🏻

There are songs that you really hope make a comeback. This is the one for me. As soon as I heard this in the 80's, I was out trying to find the vinyl. Thanks for the break down.

Proudly Canadian. Kim Mitchell and the band Max Webster were always a treat to see. A Million Vacations has some great riffs as well. (from this non musician)

The sequence is correct but I have to play everything a step down when using standard guitar tuning to play in key with the studio recording.

Awesome, thanks man. I usually like to figure stuff out on my own, but I needed help on this one. It turns out it's so easy I feel kinda dumb now. But it's one of rock's great riffs. I always wanted to be able to play it.

One thing. When you do the octave on the b for that last rundown. It is b to the F# on the d string and not the octave to the b. 😊

In this guitar cover tutorial, Steve Stine shows you how to play the main riff to the song "Go For a Soda" by Kim Mitchell. This song is quite fun to play as it requires you to move around playing different strings and unique fingerings and changes, so if you have never given it a try, give it a try! I know the song is started differently live but the clean guitar in the studio recording doesn’t seem to have that first pull off.
