here are the chords for the chorus.
first time: 000232, 4x0225, 5x043x, x12020, x24432, x35533, 3x023x, 2x013x, x0203x
second time:000232, 4x0225, x24230, x13030
edit: sorry i dont have any tabs for this song but... The tab online is a good starting point but i figured it out by watching tommy play it about 1000 times on youtube haha (i used guitarsoul's video). The point of me playing it slowly in the first place, is so that you can see exactly what I'm doing so you wont have to go thru what i did to figure it out. If you have any questions on SPECIFIC parts i will help you. I just dont have the time or patience to write out complete tabs
Finally a lesson on Angelina! I tried looking for one when I first started playing this song
I broke the song into sections
Intro
Chorus
Bridge/verse
Ending
First I explain each section then I play it very slowly
Hope this helps!
-Suggest other songs you want me to teach. thats what im here for!

Thank you so much! You're the reason I can play this song. The tab I got was wrong in some places and the two videos Tommy posted didn't include the bridge. It was nice of you to take the time to post this for other players.

Thanks very much for this Scott! I've been getting back into playing over the last year after a long long break. This is the sort of challenge I need. While I got most of the shapes from watching Tommy's video, yours has sped things up for me. Don't need or want tabs. I'm playing 2/3 of this already.

Thanks, Scott! Tommy is my favorite guitar player and Angelina is probably my favorite Tommy song. Your step by step helps to demystify what he's doing. You obviously spent a lot of time working this out. With your video as a guide, I'm thinking I might have a go at it. For me, I think it's clearer when the camera angle is looking up the neck rather than down (from above the headstock). You might also want to mention the capo since it doesn't show up so well. Keep it up!!!

thats a good question too, i didnt notice it until u pointed it out. you dont hear a difference because we are playing the same notes. instead of holding the D and G strings seperately with his index and middle(like im doing), he bars the D and G strings with his index. It doesnt look like hes barring because his hands/ fingers are much bigger than mine, so he doesnt have to lay his index finger out flat to cover both strings. Either way is fine

Picking close toward the bridge for brightness w harmonics is a great tip. I also find that it is important to remove your fretting finger from the string immediately after sounding the harmonic note... makes a huge difference in sound quality and sustain.

Thanks Scott. It's taken me a while but with the help your video I've just about got this now. I got to see Tommy and Anthony Snape in New Orleans. They were both great. I was a little disapointed that he didn't play Angelina or Papa George. But he's an awesome entertainer.

Jason, I am sure you can do it too. What I did was download his tutorial using youtube downloader. Armed with this, you can always stop his play at any moment and move the mouse back to replay a certain section. It helps me a lot with some of the more elaborate parts. Use earphone, it helps a lot. Good Luck.

@ScottTsai Thanks for sharing your work, the video is great! What I usually do instead of tuning the E down to D is to apply the capo on 5 strings only from the A string. This way you keep you tuning.Take care

Once again great video. Just started learning this song. Can you possibly post a vid showing what Tommy taught you in person for the part at 4:04? The tab says it's 3-2-0 on the e string, but Tommy seems to start the run somewhere around the 7th fret.

thats a good question. the reason i dont play it on the b string is because i want the note before it to ring out. and for me, the 5th fret on the e string is easier to reach and easier to play.

@ScottTsai Hey Scott, you're bored with practise too! What guitar do you have? I got an Ovation Legend 1767, a beautiful Yank built model. Got recently on Ebay and sounds great re-strung with Elixir phosphor 10's. My trouble is that my hearing is so crap that I can't hear the top two strings unless I plug it in and increase treble end. Earphones ok but through the speaker and I start to wind up wife and kids!!! Keep on practising. I'm trying Angelina by Tommy E. Increadible track. Try it.

I think I added at least 100 views learning this from your vid! Looked intimidating at first but a 'chunk at a time" worked great. My harmonic riff at the end doesn't quite sound right. Really hard following since the audio lags a touch from the video portion and finger movement is minimal for harmonics. Any chance getting a hybrid tab just for this portion? Thank you for this post... Excellent job

Question: you and Tommy (and more) use alternate picking for this song. Do you ever use your pinky to pick a snare in this song or ''those who wait'' ? Beautiful playing btw. I still have trouble with the pull-offs at 2:40 and the stretch of my pinky and the hammer-on at 3:25

Never mind how old he is. Face it, you and I are old and you can't teach old dogs new tricks!!! I'm 48 and have been playing on and off since I had a guitar at 12. Only ever had one lesson, my first, 3 weeks ago. Made more progress in the last 6 months than ever, watching you tube vids, downloading tabs etc, but practice is bringing it together.......slowly. Remember, to be a master of anything like this requires up to 2000 hours practice before you can be deemed 'proficient'! Good luck.

Fishhook37...it's disheartening to see you dissing this young man who obviously has no desire for wannabe status. He's simply giving credit and sharing his admiration for Emmanuel. This is a wonderful thread of comments, a beautiful piece of music being taught by an unpretentious soul and it would be nice not to tarnish it with any negativity. Congratulations Scott and thanks for taking the time to post this wonderful tutorial. Your love for music shines through.

Within 2 minutes, thanks to you, I now finally know what I'm supposed to play. xD I just happen to be a pure listener kind of musician. Theoretical stuff and I do not mix well. :P (nor do I care much for theory, in the end it's all about how it sounds)
