If you tune other strings down before tuning the E up, there’s less chance of breakage. Great lesson. Thank you!

Less chance of breaking the neck if that’s what you’re worried about. But the string is the same tension regardless.

@kommi19744 жыл бұрын
@@ViaticalTree Breaking the neck? Lmao! You have NO clue how guitars are built.
@sparkyguitar00583 жыл бұрын
@@walshy2116 Tension on the other strings. Also retune every time you can cause strings aren't use to these tensions and will lose tuning by actually playing. If you just had a guitar tuned to this tuning strings would stretch this way and stay in tune easier. Does that make sense. When you change big changes to strings, strings need to be stretched to that tuning. Quick changes will stretch but lose slack quickly. That's why touring guitars are tuned and usually left in that tuning between string changes.

Awesome lesson- thanks! You mention at the beginning you didn't know of any other song that uses the same tuning- FYI "Lullaby" by Shawn Mullins (another great 90's song) uses the same tuning and is fun to learn (real tough to keep the rhythm while singing). I practice them both together now since the tuning is the same before going off to other songs. Rock on-

I love this lesson. Turns out the guitar part of Daughter, which sounds trickier than the vocals, is insanely simple. That being said, adding the vocals is a deceptively trickier task. Something about the way that strumming pattern interlocks with the vocal rhythms; it's sort of an extreme version of patting one's head while rubbing one's belly.

Didn’t want to tune low E up to a G (I’ve popped a bridge before), so I only went up to an F. Then tuned every other string a step lower than what’s been written here for tuning (GGDGBD), and used a capo at the 2nd fret. So tune all 6 to FFCFAC, use capo at 2nd fret. Then just adjust everything he shows you up two frets. Good to go.
