I learned this by ear years ago, like you did, and you're the first person I've seen pointing this out in a long time. The way I play it the fourth finger hardly ever moves from that higher B string (tuned to C) and there's a bassline that goes down. When you're moving that fourth finger off of the high B string it's hard to figure out the hand shapes the original arranger used, but when you keep it there the shapes make themselves. Great work! :)

Hmm... I play to relax, so not feeling quite saucy enough to try that now... but I enjoyed just watching that one. Solo section sounded great, even if you assume we can't re-tune whist playing :) Great job! Thanks for the extra effort.

haha yes, i highly recommend you don't do this one :) Thanks Joshua!

Sounds amazing. The studio version you can hear an audible finger slide in between chords though so not sure how they play it. Unless it's the ring finger on the g string sliding on the 3rd fret for positioning

"Ohhhh my jesus".... lol quote of the day! Love both the original, and SP version... even the Dixie Chickens version ...Ed and Natalie connection alert... yep...everything in my realm of existence connects back to Pearl Jam... as it should. Interesting choice today... love that you aren't afraid to be real.... 4:33 to 4:36 is bloody hilarious ...and how I feel every time I try to play strings ... hell and drums and keys...

Thank you Mr Lendt for all you time & effort, in putting these tutorials together! When using this alternate tuning, would this still be considered Travis picking? Also i'm not sure why this would be considered "a cheat". Cuzzz ifin ya ask me. Which I know you haven't, ;) It's really not any easier than throwing the capo on the 3rd fret and having a go in standard tuning!? I am considering learning it this way! Butt, "I've been fraid of changes since" .... Ha!
@RyanLendt5 жыл бұрын
just the opposite mr. Rottie, the REAL version is the cheat version, because they are just playing like C and G and Em and stuff with capo on the 3rd fret, which is a whole bunch easier. I probably could have just presented it that way and been called out by only maybe two people over the next few years, but, pride in my work and all :) (curse that. Grrrrr) ;)
@arottie40975 жыл бұрын
@@RyanLendt "the REAL version is the cheat version", Hmmm, would/could this this be considered an Oxymoron? Haha! We are in agreement then. The standard tuning method is a bit easier!? Are you Travis picking in this tutorial? Thanx agaIn this will be fun to mess with. I have never played with this tuning. I'm thinking/hoping it will spark some original song Ideas. ;)
