I have that exact guitar. Does your guitar there have paint on the binding of the neck. It is a brown colored paint that seems to be applied to the back of the headstock and it’s dark in certain spots of the next. The reason I ask is it almost seems like someone has added this paint at some point in the Guitar’s life. Trying to figure out if it’s original

The variac doesn't lower the volume. It changes how much juice comes into the amp. I never heard of Eddie using an attenuator.

Great guitar. Sorta weird grain pattern, 2:58 shows this. Lots of time gone by so, who knows. I knew a guy given a Lp Deluxe in SB that was a 2nd in '74. We had to be shown where the imperfectioin was. It was next to nothing, btw, Metal Zone. I bought a HM2 and finally gave it away. The MZ was one of those 2 second pedals,,,,,2 seconds and i found something i liked.
