Aidris. I totally agree with you. I’ve had my black ‘79 custom since ‘84. Gigged it to near death. It’s wonderful. Never let me down. Can’t remember ever breaking a string and stays perfectly in tune. The T tops sound fantastic. And yet the era gets slagged off !

Those sound like low gauge strings, 9’s maybe. Les Pauls sound really good with higher gauge strings, 10s or 11s even because of the shorter scale length. Slash is known to use 11s and I’ve found them to be excellent on Les Pauls even for bending. As for customs they’re a step up above standards in my opinion, especially with tone.

The difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is 24 hours. I suppose there could be a really bad haircut that would take 48 hours... With our Pandemic Pause 2020, i went nearly six months between haircuts, and when I did go there was a sign on the front door with graphics along with the text: Mask Required. Mohawk Optional. (Sure enough, when I left, a younger lad with a longboard was sitting on the curb waiting to go in, and he was sporting a mohawk.) Congratulations on 1300 episodes of GOTD! Jen, ask Norm if he remembers The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour with "1,000 Great Works of Art in 3 Minutes" that was backed by Mason Williams' "Classical Gas". 1300 episodes in 4 minutes?
