Mark, I have been watching and learning from Ben Crowe, founder of Crimson Guitars (look him up if not familiar) for about three months now. Been a carpenter for 35 yrs. (All kinds except cabinet making). So, I got this huge piece of walnut (10' long) from the Amish around the corner. At one end is where the tree fanned out at bottom near ground.... what do I see?....yeah, a Flying V. I go online and found some sketches with minimal dimensions, supposedly from an 83 Korina. I've been hackin away at it for three weeks now. It's a beast. I didn't know it but Black Limba is also called Korina. So what do I find? A two piece set, book matched Black Limba neck set. Just got it in. My first build. I'm a wanna b guitar player who got nowhere. Hands are all beat up now at 62, but Im doing this in dedication to a band that is still at it, Andy Powell's Wishbone Ash, THE MOST UNDER RATED and probs most influential CLASSIC ROCK BAND. WHY no publicity? I don't know.....maybe they didn't go down to the crossroads. Still, after 45 years or so no picture on the cover of the Rolling Stone, but still world touring. Anyway, can't wait to finish it. I'm glad you showed it, cause I want to get it right. My grandmother, God rest her soul, always told me " steal a trade with your eyes. It will be #00001 Want it? Some bullion and coin dealer wants it. We'll see if I can get it to rock out. BTW, I enjoy your demos.....I like your smooth style... I'm too late and long in the tooth to get any better so I'll settle for building them. Maybe I'll do my own headstock... don't know how all that patent stuff works. Later!

Back in 1977 I build a flying vee in wood shop. Still have it . Wanna trade Mark. My first guitar build. Had gold hardware and a custom cut fender type head stock. Played pretty good. Was into Kiss at the time so I wanted a Vee. Now bring on the Vox guitars.

Have one.... My guess 83/84ish Cherry red, some say only 20, some say 30 made of that color. Dunno like you said very hard to find info on the serial numbers and the numbers produced. Been well played looks like a metallic silver primer undercoat in well worn areas. My guitar Stamp serial in the "G" ###. Underneath Stamped into wood "Made in America" Original humbuckers, stated by the Patent # on them. (Interesting story on it's own about that serial no.). Knobs, tuners, Jack, switch all replaced due to pieces falling apart/ worn out. needs a fret redo. Guitar has been through the trenches. Have not played it much in the past 10 years but In the end still one of the nicest sounding guitar I have. Also some have said they have found girls names written in pencil in the control cavity of the guitars as the Gibson staff were having a little fun naming the guitars.
