Thanks for letting a iconic guitar be heard again! Its a fantastic instrument! Growing up back in the '60s, on select Fri or Sat nites, some fam friends would come over and sing & play. Conversation would evolve to diff artists, & which guitar they were playing.. I can remember my Mom talking about wanting a red double cut, the 6131 being the likely candidate in my mind; and the New Yorker. A bit opposite, those two. But Im sure there was more to the convo than I could have picked up and remember now, 60 some years later. So you definitely brought back some fond memories. I'll be sitting with my Ibanez and thinking about which grandbaby of 12 to pass my gear onto. Take care & Stay SAFE!!

Just a footnote to the Malcolm Young reference in this video. I saw an interview with Harry Vanda a while ago. Harry was the song writing partner with Malcolm and Angus's older brother, George Young in the Easybeats. They went on to write heaps of hit songs after the Easybeats split up. Harry mentioned that he gave Malcolm his Gretsch Firebird and said it was the best investment that he had ever made.

AC/DC have had a few changes in their line up but the biggest was after Bon Scott died in feb 1980. Malcolm added the middle pickup (I assume a Gibson humbucker). He stripped the red paint off his Jet Firebird to natural finish and removed the tremolo arm (probably because it was hard for him to keep in tune) as well as removing the neck pickup and middle pickup and leaving the bridge pickup giving it the nickname, "The Beast".
