And I absolutely love the darker tint on the neck on the 50s CV. I hope my 60s comes darker like that, but I'm not going to mind if not. That fiesta red looks amazing with that neck tint..

I totally agree about the Duncan Designed pick-ups, Steve. I've got a Squier Strat Deluxe with a set of DDs and it sounds WAY better than a $300 guitar has any right to.

i have two Jackson soloists (an SL3X DX and SL1X) with Duncan Designed pick ups and i may catch hell for saying so but i personally prefer them to my made in America Seymour Duncans , then again i am 57 and my hearing isn't what it was 35 years ago - but to my ears the Duncan Designed sound warmer and fuller without sacrificing any of the detail in the mid and upper registers

Intro guitar players, good lesson here: pay for a good setup. These intro guitars are so much better vs the ones put out over the past 40 yrs. Cheers!!

The mass adoption of CNC milling has been a total game-changer. Cheap guitars can be made with the same quality and tolerances of expensive guitars because there's no zero additional cost once you've got your milling program dialed in.

Squire has stepped up. All good advice on adjusting the truss rod, you want a slight bow in the neck, I used to set them flat but I would get buzz on the higher frets. Capo on the first fret and fret the guitar at the 15th fret and see if you can slide a matchbook through 6th fret about .020 I think. Steve will know.

I think it’s crazy is that from what I’ve heard, it tends to be that a high end squier is better than a low end fender. I find that interesting.
@ml20543 ай бұрын
As someone who owns both, nah the fender is better. But not by a huge amount. Mostly just the tuners, pickups, and electronics are better on the fender. The Squier definitely is amazing for the money but mine is already needing a few things fixed/replaced just after a few months
@toby25813 ай бұрын
The only reason I'd go for the Fender is the ubiquity of aftermarket parts. There's a lot less selection for Squiers.

The guitar looks and sounds great. It might even have been good value, were it not for the countless brands coming out of China lately... some of which are apparently as good or better for less money. I'm curious how this would compare to the Sire S3 and the Eart NK models.

I have one of the made in PRC 50's Teles, I've always liked it because they made the neck big/thick, like the Fender. When I shopped for a Strat recently, I found all the guitars they produce at the new facility are modern C shape. 50's, 60's, 70's and up are all the same. I ended up buying a MIM Strat w/classic V neck. I might just add/swap for a PRS SE Silver Sky. JMHO 8) --gary

@toby25813 ай бұрын
It's really not that big of a deal. You have to make a concerted effort to damage a truss rod or neck - they're made to withstand a couple hundred pounds of force for decades and decades without any issue.

what I have learned is every guitar sounds exactly the same when you run it through those patches and Guitar pedals with tons of dirt and other effects. You could stick some pick ups in a kitchen table and get the same result of the sound with all that crap on it.

Squiers today are a lot better than the Squiers from the 90s and early 2000s. Might even be better than the Mexican Fenders from that era that were about $350 at that time. I heard that the early 80s Squiers were great. These might give them a run for their money.

All the squier's I've had would never stay in tune and the electronics and the hardware including the metal the bridge was made out of was cheap also the pi 11:57 ckups were nowhere near the sound of even a mim fender maybe they are making them better now but back when i had the ones i had they weren't anything anyone wanted although my brother said you may find 1 out of a hundred you might get a good one you could mod them but soon you're starting to put to much into them and you may as well save up and by a regular fender Mexican, Japan, and obvious a usa.
