I love my Gretsch Electromatic! So classy... sounds great too. The tone on these guitars can go from a Strat or Tele twang to a creamy Les Paul-ish wail. They also work really well with high gain sounds and spacey effects.

Completely agree. I am a strat man and just added the 5420T to my collection. It has inspired me to finally get my hybrid finger picking perfected.
@natasaragih99702 жыл бұрын
Your explanation is so far the best on how gretsch sounds. I always hear that they got that twang of strat or tele when driven a bit

I have now bought the G5420T in fairline blue with complete Gretsch hardcase and it arrives next week. I AM STOKED. I tested one for almost 2 hours in a big sound room at 4Sound through a Fender Deluxe reissue tweed and man, i was just gone. Off to a complely different planet. I want to thank Andertons for your brilliant presenters who really set me on the right path to a hole new sound, both on a professional level and as a human. Sound defines us in this life. Thank you guys!

Good demo and discussion. I tried a bunch of Electromatics, and I thought they were okay, but not amazing. I eventually found an older 6120 and now it's my favourite guitar, despite the lack of locking tuners, a floating bridge and a non-Graph-Tec nut. It also lacks the treble bleed circuit.

Can someone please tell me what Danish Pete's go-to riff is? He starts into it in so many contexts ... here he does it when trying to figure out the knobs, and spends the CE-2w video seemingly entirely on it*. It's so lovely ... well ... then again, that could just be Pete's playing too. Still, it's delightful. *Edit: I was apparently experiencing some memory corruption ... still ... he does at least open with it in that video. I'd really love to know what it is ... and hear more of him playing off of it.

Ah, yess! The Ford Fairlane Hardtop Convertible. My aunt had one that she bought new in 1958. The way it worked was, you would press a button on the dashboard, the top of the boot would flip open backward, the top did a back-flip into the boot and the boot cover would fall over it. Press the button again and the process would reverse.
@hot88s232 жыл бұрын
It was the Skyliner, not the Fairlane.
@rexrobards74075 жыл бұрын
Yes, it was some time around 1956 that Ford made a hard-topped convertible Fairlane, with a top that flipped over and tucked itself into the boot at the press of a button. Not all of them were blue. I believe that my Aunt's flip-top Fairlane was red.

The 12 string is awesome. I have played 12 string acoustic for over 40 years, had an old Hagstrom 12 electric from the 70's - was horribly wouded, but truth be told - many guitar players do not know how to handle the nuance of a 12 string, acoustic or electric. Jazz and fusion sounds awesome played on 12, campfire strumming open chords does not. Knowing your triad inversions is important too. So playing it with the intent to highlight it's unique voice and tone is key.
