Very simple and informative. I went ahead and got a female plug over the battery option so I can plug power in though my power chain. Thank you for taking your time to make this video!

@@RedeyeRaccoon thx for watching! And that’s a great idea. Especially if you have room on your board OR an easy way to run an extra power cord over to the amp pedal…. Nice!!!

This is quite helpful. Will follow this to add an LED indicator to my existing footswitch!

I have 11 to 14 pedals in my chain and some pedals light up when not on. Usually when using pedals with switchable clipping using leds. Mainly fuzz pedals do light up when not on. I understand now builders use the led not just for on but to smooth out the fuzz ourput.? Thanks for the video

I want to do something similar with a slightly modified Marshall foot pedal that I use with an old Traynor amp head; one switch controls reverb, one controls tremolo...can I add 2 LEDs with a single 9v power supply?

Yes definitely, especially assuming your footswitches are dual pole dual throw switches where the LED circuit is on a different leg than the amp controls like the video. All you have to do is split the power coming out of the battery (after the “power” switch if you decide to go that route). Feel free to send me an email at tjnilsenmusic@gmail.com and I can send you a diagram and potential parts list if interested. Thx!

First time I tried adding leds to my new circuits I burnt out 3 before I realised that they needed a resistor. I want to use led clipping to ground on a switch but don't know how

why are you using a battery? the amp provides the voltage you need.

It’s a great question. In an effort to avoid any complications with the variable boost (there’s a potentiometer inline in this circuit for the Z amp) and also an attempt to keep this circuit out of anything to do with the amp. Those are the only reasons. Would be interesting if there was any noticeable difference in tone or function by either placing the led in the amp circuit or by using the amp voltage to at least power the led. Thx!
