You may not be a professional musician or critic, but you had the wisdom and ear to understand Mr. Zappa in turns of his outstanding compositional prowess. I have long been a fan of the fellow Capricorn, and was absorbing Joe's Garage II when I happened to meet him in a hotel lobby in Boston, where we spoke briefly about the German lyrics contained therein. Gone far too soon, but he did leave a huge legacy. There are videos of him playing an upside-down bicycle on The Steve Allen Show, which was the first of its kind, and also Australian TV, where he conducts the audience who makes funny noises. He was a mad deus. America's gift to music.

Your doing a reaction to a 'part' of a Zappa song!! WHY?

Are you joking. The part that is cut off in the middle, is what makes this song one of the best performed piece of music. Its like Parthenon in Greece without the stolen Marbles that exist in the British museum, go and see a vandalized Temple and enjoy that view, its the same here aucustically
Part of what I love about Zappa's guitar solos is that he seems to be in full composer mode; improvising as a composer would, not just a guy who knows a lot of scales. His phrasing is also unique, and in some ways shows his admiration for Johnny Guitar Watson (worth checking out). Great reaction. Thanks.

I wouldn't say at all that that's an unpopular opinion. He was a brilliant composer and as you can see, he also acted as conductor in the complicated instrumentals. You will certainly enjoy a longer version. Maybe the album track.

Did someone send you a bad link? A few weeks ago some unfortunates found themselves reacting to a bad edit of another song with most of the improvisation cut out. PLEASE if you haven't done it already, check out the full uncut Inca Roads from the Token Of His Extreme concert film. Note that there ISN'T a studio version of this song - the track on the One Size Fits All album is a hybrid edit combining most of this performance with an edit of a solo from another concert [which can be heard in a longer edit on the Stage 2 album]..

If you want a video where you can see his guitar play, check the live version of Chunga's revenge! Also check up Dweezil! There is an excellent live version of Inca Roads (14:37). Including a slightly older Napoleon Murphy Brock on song and flute! Dweezil had good guitar teachers when young, besides his daddy, alse Eddie van Halen and Steve Vai... Also I would really like to see your reaction to Jon Gomm and Passionflower: how to use a guitar!
