'Onset' together with the somewhat newer instrumental 'Don't be long' and the acoustics of 'Puzzle' and 'Anemone' are the perfect songs for me to just escape from everything. So well composed and performed that when I put on headphones and close my eyes, I can really block out everything around me for a few minutes. I don't know many songs that allow me to do that. Also from me 'thank you' for another video to Band-Maid and the support for the ladies that comes with it! 【 'Our rock never dies, ever. Forever!' - Band-Maid 】

Band Maid always writes their instrumental section first and then adds the lyrics to compliment it. So you bet they take their instrumentals seriously and they are often proper standalone songs on their own. Infact they regularly release instrumental ver.of many of their songs alongside their new albums. Btw Kanami (L guitar) is their songwriter & arranger while Miku (rhythm guitar/backing vocals) is the lyricist.

Good assessment of the song. Made good points on the guitar work. Kanami is a great composer. You missed highlighting Akane’s drumming here. The bridge in particular. It’s a difficult section to play. Disjointed with no particular regular rhythm/beat. Have to be exact with different fills. Akane really plays this well. Considering this is all played with strobes, lasers etc.,it’s an amazing piece of musicianship by all. Misa’s bass is always great and there’s really solos going on throughout the piece. One of my favourites.

You are a very perceptive reactor. Subscribed. Band-Maid are great in the studio, but many times better in live concert. And as you thought might be the case, yes they do allow for improvisation, but I think most often they practice the extended live versions in advance. They love to work with the energy exchange with live audiences and so their live performances are really LIVE. I know of exactly no one who has ever been disappointed in a Band-Maid concert. The official videos from February 14, 2020 live are excellent quality and it was a superb performance that well represents their live music. And the extended "Freedom" from that one with the drum solo in the middle is often recommended. It will be interesting to see what they do live this year when concerts are more do-able. Some of their new songs bring the bass and drums even more forward, and the skills of rhythm guitarist Miku are developing well and she is brought forward more often. She has less than 8 years on the guitar, and has come a long way in that time. Lead guitarist-composer Kanami on our right is her teacher and coach bringing her from zero to pro, and Miku has worked hard to get to this level. Miku is the group founder and chief lyricist and many other things in the band. Oh, and in their videos you might see that their amplifiers are all different, all specialized for the purpose, not arbitrarily one brand and sponsor. Much thought has gone into those choices for being able to get the exact tones they want, and they constantly try new approaches, never settling for sameness.

I'm happy that you loved this piece. As much as I love Saiki's vocal and her emotional rendering, and rapping, etc...I have thing for great instrumentals. Band-maid is special in a way that no matter how many different bands you listen to, you always end up coming back. Having said that, I have an occasional craving for something hardcore. Maximum the hormone and crystal lake are actually my kind of metal. (Reminds me of bad brains and rage against the machine). They are not metal all way. Very musically satisfying in their own way.

I am just not convinced. I can't find any videos of the guitarist actually playing the guitar and it looks like she's playing what I'm hearing. This is a great example of that. Every quarter of a second is a different camera angle, bad lighting, and it's just... It looks like she's tapping the correct way, but the really technical stuff is not being shown. A great example of what I'm talking about is a youtube video with Herman Li. Herman is like "let's get this on!" and they are waiting for somebody to line everything up. Once it starts up, it's like watching an air guitarist. I've been playing for 40 years, and shit just doesn't line up. fingers aren't doing what my ear is hearing. I think they're fake as fuck!
