I was one of a lucky 800 people. In April of 2018, I had a visit to Japan. After I booked the flights, Band-Maid announced three shows in Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo. I got tickets to the show in Nagoya at Nagoya Diamond Hall, an cozy 800 person venue. Halfway through the show, they busted out this number. They had never played this song before and had not released it anywhere. It was totally new. It was absolutely sick. This recording is from the Tokyo show about a 9 days after the Nagoya show.

Your first reaction to "thrill" was Band Maid in their infancy. the song was written for them, not by them. Several years later the powers that be let them compose and write for themselves and they have been evolving ever since. They work hard to constantly improve themselves. No copy and paste choruses and no repetitive music in their songs. This performance is like 6 years of improvment over "Thrill". Love your bands' reactions. Keep it up.

BAND-MAID make me happy. They are a joy to watch and listen to. They were the first Japanese band I came across, back in 2015 (with "Thrill"), and I gradually discovered more amazing bands in the Japanese scene. Unlike a lot of "jumping off points," though, I haven't "outgrown" them. They have continued to push themselves to be better and better (when they were already fantastic), and -- as a result -- they are definitely one of my all-time favorites. The visual gimmick is not a crutch. They are the real deal. One of the best (if not *the* best) straight-up hard rock bands on the planet right now.

How Band-Maid works; Kanami (lead guitar) composes the music, sending it (internet) to MISA (bass) and Akane (drums) for beat and rhythm. Miku (rhythm guitar, vocals, Spokes-Pigeon) writes the lyrics with Saiki now providing input. The song is finished in the studio, with Saiki in command of declaring the song done. Miku founded the band starting with Kanami from the internet, where she was posting her songs. Kanami contacted Akane who in turn contacted MISA. From there 2 things happened, They needed a fuller sound so Miku stepped up to learn rhythm guitar (from Kanami) and Saiki (thru an audition) was brought in for vocals as Miku's voice was not strong to front a Hard Rock (not metal) band. They write, arrange, and produce their songs AND Miku and Saiki decide the order for the songs on the albums. They had 5 sold-out concerts in the US in 2019 and have a strong loyal fandom both here and in Europe that's growing. We are just waiting for them to come back to the US. Good reaction, now checkout Lovebites. Everyone BE SAFE sheltering in California.

This is done during the intermission which the band jokingly calls Saiki's pee break. They perform this and then Miku does her Magic Spell Show. She is quite the comedienne apparently. I have only seen her magic spell show in Japanese on KZbin but the audience gets a kick out of it. It is all done so that Saiki can rest her lovely voice. Great reaction. I had the same reaction as you did when I first heard this track. So I just jumped down that rabbit hole, and fell in love (bought up all their music, which was my first purchase in years). I also started listening to the other J-Rock/metal bands recommended in the Band Maid comments, hoping to stumble across something similar. But none of these other bands could quite reproduce for me what Band Maid does: I found myself admiring the technical skills of these other bands, but for some reason their sound could not make my heart sing the way Band Maid seems to. Band Maid makes some beautiful music.

Another great reaction! This song is one of those where the singer, Saiki, takes a break to rest her pipes while the musicians get to show off. The earlier live video you did was a guest appearance at the Summer Sonic festival. This one is their full live show at Zepp Tokyo produced for commercial release. So the production value on this one is much higher.

It's a super prestigious venue in Japan. Messe and Zep are like gym badges in pokemon for bands. You pretty much have to be invited to play there. Japanese bands do this really wholesome thing when a new band first gets to Zepp. All the big names will send the band bouquets of flowers and they'll be lined up outside of the venue. It's a sign of respect and saying you're one of us now. You made it. Honestly brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it 😅

This is why I love this band, they are true professionals and great musicians because they do not settle for where their talent is, they are always striving to improve! Thank you very much for reacting to them!

you have to go and see these girls live, they are incredible you will experience the same forgotten emotions that you felt with the super bands of the 70s and 80s, Akane at the beginning seems invasive but then with its rhythms, it takes you away from the head, she is the hammer of God, the two guitars intertwine in beautiful, very creative ways and rhythms, the mix set on the bass makes you vibrate with Miza throughout the concert, Saiki makes you straighten your hair, and you will love her at the end of the concert, Kanami transforms his guitar into an emotion generator

Glad you love the production value of this song, because there's a bunch of other songs they have from this concert with the exact same sound quality. You're in for many treats. The only bummer is that videos from this concert have been getting taken down from KZbin recently. They're trying to sell more DvD's of this concert, so they don't want videos from this concert on KZbin. That's why they barely uploaded this song to there channel even though it's from 2018.

I played Bass and Drums in a Cover Band for almost 20 years. Started out on drums then the Bass player quit. At my best I know I was only half as good as Misa and Akane. Just watching these ladies play puts a smile on my face and happiness in my Heart. This is what Rock use to be. Thank You Japan.

I stumbled onto a reaction video where someone mentioned in the comments to check out a Japanese band called Band-Maid. That they were very skilled young musicians. I went to KZbin and watched Thrill over and over for about 2 weeks and they just impressed the hell out me. I mentioned them to my friends and I love to see their first reaction to them. It's always priceless to watch the stunned look on their faces. I say always start with Thrill and work your way forward in their timeline up to today.

Something that sometimes gets lost to newer viewers is how effortlessly Misa switches from pick to slap and back without missing a beat. Band-Maid imo is the best straight-up rock band out there today. They are so FUN to watch. Check out some of their live performances and just notice how they interact with each other. Whether it's cheering each other on during someone's solo, or grouping around Akane to make faces at her as she TEARS UP another drum part, or just generally backing away to let someone else shine - they are great to watch. I sincerely *enjoy* watching them perform almost as much as I do listening to them.

This is not a new video. It’s been around forever. It has been reacted by many reactors before. What happened is it was on hold because of the recent music released by the band some months back. Now that the music is out they gave permission to see this song and video again. This is the old version of the song while playing it live. There’s also a regular studio video that came out like a year after. . Check it out

When forming this band, Miku (the rhythm guitarist) didn't even know how to play the guitar. She had to learn from Kanami (the lead guitarist) as they went. They've all come a long, long way from the MV for 'Thrill'. Akane (the drummer) always has a smile on her face while playing, she is a beast of a drummer. She doesn't wear the tiny hat any more, though. It hurt her head to keep it attached.

Yeah, Miku was orinally the lead singer, but while she is good, she doesn’t have the power their style needs, so they found Saiki. Akane and Kanami decided Miku needed to be able to have a bigger roll on stage besides backing vocals (and lyric writing), so Kanami started to teach her to be rhythm guitar too.

So, they a pretty big and growing fanbase here in the States. They played 5 smaller venue shows around October (if I recall correctly) 2 NY 1 Dallas and 2 in Southern California and they sold out pretty quickly or came close to sell out. They were invited to Play Knotfest in Iowa and were supposed to play right before Slipknot. In March if memory serves but Covid happened. There's excellent footage from those 5 shows with decent sound etc. The American crowds really showed up for them too!!!! 😉🤘🤘

Welcome to the Maidiacs. They have toured in US a couple of times and sold out shows, also done Europe too. They are the best live hard rock band on the planet at the moment for my money, been together 7 years now i think. jimmy Page is a big fan and has had a pic taken with Akane the drummer when he saw them in Tokyo.

discovered these ladies late 2019, by accident. Knew the name, but the Baby Metal/Idol Band effect, gimmicky sounding name/image plus song titles like "YOLO" (a phrase I want to [punch people for using usually), instantly prejudiced me against even giving them a shot. Then I was listening to Ningen Isu while doing house chores, and Band Maid's "Play" (live) popped up, and that bass line instantly grabbed my attention. A couple weeks later I was buying all their albums. They are one of the freshest, most talented bands in a very long time, and rank up there with Nightwish and Sabaton for keeping heavy music relevant today.
