As a synth nerd I’d disregarded GR despite having it installed for ages. Then I tried sticking GR in front of the Roland Cloud version of their TB-303, and I love it. I like to use it on most synths now.

Very, very nice! The amp and cabinet sims really do bring the piano and organ sounds to life! I wish I could play as well as you 🤩

Now I just have to learn the Crystal waters la da dee la da da riff! Absolutely whet my appetite for using GR6 with virtual organs and synths, adds so much authentic character

Yep, totally agree, Guitar Rig has some amazing effects. I find it difficult not to use in some capacity or another in most of my arrangements. I don't have a real Nord, so it's a VST version but hooked up to Guitar Rig it comes fairly close to the sounds in your demo. Brilliant, thanks.

Please do more of this! I'm quite new to playing music having started teaching myself piano/keyboard just before the pandemic hit. I have GR as part of Komplete 13 and quite a few EP/B3/Wurli VST's and I never thought of hooking them up to GR so thanks for this idea!! Would love you to do more vids like this, really exploring the possibilities would make for a great watch. Cheers Woody!

thanks for the request, yeah, definitely check it out, it's got lots of multi-purpose effects, even studio mastering stuff.

Interesting idea. I have Komplete 13 and just upgraded to 14, but rarely use GR 6. It makes sense 😊

It would be interesting to hear a real Rhodes, Wurlitzer, and Hammond A100/B3 though Guitar Rig 6. Excellent demo and presentation of some of the endless possibilities. I have tried a few of my keyboards through a mid 60’s Super Reverb and Vibrolux Reverb over the years, and all sound great. Guitar Rig 6 opens up more options and possibilities. Love the ditties you create in your presentation’s.

thank you steve! i bet it works a bit like guitars and amps, the amp plays a more significant part of the sound than the guitar, so I suspect a real rhodes would not sound hugely different to the samples on the Nord. agree, it would be a joy to try it though!

That's a great idea. The GR stuff makes it sound good.

Yes, I tried sometimes with same GR thing and some VST. But I chose complex presets that were for guitars only. Now I know where and how to work to get a pure amp playing. If you check wurly inside Kontakt and Komplete you will see that some presets are already loaded with amp simulators inside Kontakt. And they are extremely good. Another thing I tried, and it's spectacular, is to boost an organ with IK Multimedia Amplitube Leslie. Try with your Viscount Woody, I am sure you will like it...
@WoodyPianoShack2 жыл бұрын
yeah, perhaps the kontakt amp sims are closely related to GR! i bet there's a leslie sim in GR also, the IK stuff is highly regarded I know, the legend btw was a loaner :(

I love Guitar Rig. The models are decent, and though I like them a lot because they do effectively cop the tones they represent, I know that they are often the least favorite in mashups between other modelers. But the real strength of Guitar Rig 6 is how the operating paradigm, effects types and varieties, and parameter modulators make this the only plugin that can be used as a sound design platform for guitar. Nothing else in the market is like it, save maybe the Fractal Audio units.

Sounds great! I'm using Roland XP-80 with ZOOM G1on and getting fantastic results - mostly DeepPurpleshlyOrganwise. Amazing video Woody!

I'm having fun playing synths with guitar pedals right now, Woody. Any recommendations for expanding basic electric piano patches? Completely DAWless right now.

hi carlos, i don't know much about pedals and stuff, but sounds like a lot of fun

Thanks tho I wish there was less time spent on the Bassman and Plexi. I did like the 2nd Bassman example, and the JC was cool.

yeah, sorry for not spending time on the others, I wanted to focus on the fenders since that's what keyboard players have gravitated too, but topic for another video!
