This is the metal national anthem, and the ladies paid faithful homage to it. When they announced its release as a bonus disc I never for a moment expected the instrumentals to be anything but a perfectly crafted, note for note rendition. The Japanese have something the west abandoned a very long time ago. Respect. This is not a cover, it’s not an imitation and it’s not a copy. It’s a mark of respect. It’s also a massive tribute to Rob Halfords because Asami-san, a phenomenal vocalist with a range as wide as the sea of Japan and the power of Fuji-san is at full stretch here (so well done princess).

I have always enjoyed Death's cover of this song. Lovebites didn't cover the song, but instead made it a tribute song. I honestly feel that this version overall is a tad better than the original. And that's nuts to say because Priest's versions is iconic. Asami, as a female, did a phenomenal job keeping her voice in line with the original. Every Lovebites song just reflects on the elite level talent in the band.

@@GuitarSoloReactions It is very good musically (but not quite as good as the LOVEBITES version in my opinion), but I just can't take the vocals seriously. A death metal vocalist trying to sing a fast power metal song just doesn't work - at least not for me.

I listened today, I love Death Metal and the vocal style in general, However I'm not a big fan of the Death. Truly an original band and Chuck was great and they where there at the infancy of death metal. They fused Thrash, Death Metal and even some progressive elements. R.I.P Chuck

Vocals come down to personal taste, and Rob Halford is one of the greatest metal singers of all time, so many people (who aren't raving LOVEBITES fans - like me) may prefer him. But musically, I think the LOVEBITES cover is superior to the original. To be fair, this could reflect the superiority of modern equipment. However, I do think that Haruna's drumming is just better than the original. She is a machine.

I definitely prefer Rob as a vocalist, one the best "metal" singers of all time. I would agree this is an amazing version playing wise, but Priest now with Richie Faulkner is a killer. Glenn is very under-rated guitar player.

Thank you for your reaction. This song was one of the assignments Miho and Haruna gave Asami when they formed Love Bites. Until then, she had mainly sung R&B songs,Asami's first impression upon hearing this song was, "What the heck is this? Asami has said in interviews that she now likes this kind of metal music. I dont know if im just easily impressed because these were hard for me to get down, but I just love the way Midori hits those dive bombs flawlessly at will, same with Myako and those pinch harmonics in the middle of a fast rhythm pattern, while alternate picking. I'd love to see them play this live. On a separate note, dont know if youve done "Scream For Me" yet, but that song ends with Midori and Miyako trading solos for like 90 seconds. The best version imo is the one from the "Live From Abyss" live studio session DVD, filmed during COVID. The production is superb, that whole DVD is incredible, and honestly, the song sounds cleaner than the other live performance available, which happens.

@@GuitarSoloReactions Great song. Again I think the best quality version is the one from "Live In Abyss" studio session DVD. There's another live performance from the "Daughters Of Dawn" concert DVD, but on the "Abyss" version they seem more relaxed and the mix is cleaner. Also, I'd recommend listening to "Hammer Of Wrath" off "Live From Abyss" because you can see the subtle differences in how Miho plays the bass parts in comparison to Fami, and in that half time section going into the solo, you can really hear that funky metal rhythm Miyako plays as Midori is starting her solo. Plus the harmonics really pop! Doesn't really have to be a reaction, but maybe to compare the two and also get a sense of the DVD's quality.
