When I was young I bought myself a cord book and I got an electric guitar and amp for Christmas. I"m old now, btw I switched to drums. I was the only girl playing drums in my town. Because of the cord book I bought and how many hours I spent learning cords, I still remember those cords! I am going to buy an electric guitar and amp and start again! I wanna play B.B. King "The Thrill is Gone". I love Blues the best. Thanks, I love Marvin Gaye too.

It's so cool that you chose this song for a video lesson! It's a great take-off point for other songs. It's taught me the importance of the right hand strumming patterns.

Been watching some lesson videos for this song and I gotta say this is by far the best one!, one of the biggest problems that I had was in the strumming of the chords, but now I got it right, thanks!

what are the characters besides the chords names? Eg: xx0222 for Dmaj7 what does this illustrate?
@EpicGuitarInstruction
@EpicGuitarInstruction 5 жыл бұрын
Hi - that is a way to write out the chords so you can see which frets to put your fingers on. Each one of the characters represents a string on the guitar from the low E then A, then D, Then G, Then B then E. In order low to high. The numbers are the frets. x means dont play that string 0 means play that string open. So to play a Dmajor 7 chord that is represented by xx0222 - the x means do not play the low e string, next is x means dont play the A string, next is a 0 so play open D string, next is a 2 so play 2nd fret of of the G string, next is 2 so play 2nd fret of B string, last is another 2 so play 2nd fret of high e string, basically just bar the top three strings at the 2nd fret with your first finger and with the open D string and not playing the A and low e strings you have a D major 7 chord. Lots more cool songs on the channel so be sure to check some out and please subscribe to the channel. Let us know if you have any questions and keep on rocking on that guitar. Take care and rock oN! -David Taub, Next Level GUitar Inc. & EGI

Great lesson ! On the strum pattern, how did you come up with that ? For rhythm guitar practice on different strum techniques do you have other exercises ? chord changing is not my problem, it's coordinating that right hand
@EpicGuitarInstruction

+dronai Hi and thanks so much for your kind words - really appreciate that! So glad that you liked the lesson. I just came up with some strums that try to capture the essence of the tune and that students can grab and play quickly. Lot of songs I try and make them for one guitar and explain the rhythms and strums as completely as possible. You may want to try some strumming exercises and rhythm and ear training. Getting that ear dialed in to hear the rhythms is a big part of it. I have a lot of ear training exercises in the beginner 100-200 section of our website - ck that out as they really help - and keep practicing different rhythmic patterns - I have a free 3 day all access site pass on the home page at nextlevelguitar.com - give the site a good test drive. Nice work brother. Just got a gig with some mo town cats in Tn. This lesson was a quick study and love the capo pitch. Qstn? Why do it with capo, was the original in e major 7th? I'm not a reader so got this quick but how was the the original played by guitar player? Hoping the pitch isnt higher than what the singer is used to...Or i'll have to re lean the position in standard tuning. Help.. Keep up the good instructionals.

+Ronald LaBarbera Hi Ron and thanks so much for your kind words - really appreciate that and thanks so much for checking out our lessons. Hope the two can help you along in your guitar journey. Yeah, the original version of the song rings out to the key of E major. So you can play it with the capo like I showed yo our relearn the voicing for the key of E. If you play it in E major consider capping it up. Will probably depend on what key the singer is comfortable singing it in. Have fun with the tune and keep on rocking.
