Hi Michael. this is the first time I've seen you and what you do. I can't tell you how much I appreciate how you express yourself which is very telling of who you are, a person with a big heart. I was played afro-cuban percussion for around 40 years and recently stopped because of ME/CFS. I decided to learn how to play guitar because one day I heard someone play zouk style guitar. I was really into it and was surprised how much I loved learning to play riffs on my newly acquired electric guitar. This was about 3 years ago. I played for around 6 months and low and behold, I ended up with trigger finger in both 4th fingers. I had to stop playing for a few years now and am finally receiving hand therapy. Hopefully one day if I can heal both fingers, one is almost healed 95 percent, I'll come back and join your community! Coincidentally, I just heard from a friend about Marcin and watched him play for the first time yesterday. He's quite the virtuoso!

Marcin is incredible! You should definatelly check out more of his work. He does not just play but make all the arrangements by himself, he writes his own songs too. He even invents new sounds and definatelly uses the whole instrument to play. His left hand is so well trained that he can play the melody with just his left hand on a fretbpard and he has his right hand free to make all these mind-blowing percussive sounds. Check out his newest: Marcin - Carmen (opera)

Thanks for this, your observations were fascinating. I have no musical knowledge AT ALL, but I know what works and what doesn't. My tastes are all over the place, I can appreciate all kinds of music if it IS music. There is a subtle logic beneath the flamboyance of his style that is very pleasing to hear. Its like the logic of movement when one is in the flow state, especially in dance or martial arts, you watch it, and even if you cannot replicate it, it speaks to you. Flow state logic approaches perfection even as the horizon of perfection recedes before you.

Hi Mike, Marcin plays d guitar as if it's a piano with d body where he can drum and slaps and everything, that's how I see it. I play piano and I'm not a guitar person, BUT Marcin makes me love his guitar playing. Marcin actually plays with d whole body of d guitar, literally from top to bottom. Would U pls be kind to react to Marcin's other plays from classical to metal rock, such as Master of Puppets (Metallica) on one acoustic guitar, Still DRE, Habanera Carmen by Bizet. Thank U Mike.

Its not just some math rocky/angular/look at what I can do thing. This guy is unbelievably cool.

Just found out about this genius yesterday. Exquisite perfection and……. fun. Michael, have you heard of Jacob Collier? My daughter went to see him in Montreal. Introduced me to this mind blowing genius! Words can’t explain how talented this young man is. He is a singer, plays the piano and a bunch of other instruments. He’ll record himself singing several parts and then join it all together so that he’s harmonizing with himself x 8. He also has huge audiences humming as he directs two sections to hum higher or lower, harmonizing. He does a version of Moon River that is brilliant. He can take the Flintstone theme and rock it! Lovely to see you dedicate this Marcin number to a fan’s brother. How appropriate….. Fly Me To The Moon…..

I don't think many people would actually put this music on at home and listen to it for enjoyment, whereas if he didn't do the percussive stuff they might. What Marcin does is a spectacle which only really works as a video or live performance.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences Dave. Music will definitely help in the healing process and it is a blessing indeed to be part of a community that loves music and cares for one another. We are here for you. As far as the video, I am a a pretty hardcore jazz fan and this was a very cool arrangement. “Fly Me To The Moon” is naturally a swinging tune despite the tempo that it is typically performed at. To keep that swinging spirit while playing in this percussive style is an achievement in my opinion. Thank you for the recommendation! Be well brother.
