This was the moment that finally sold me on that lineup. Everything about the performance was absolutely perfect in its execution and seemingly random nature. They were not there to sell or promote anything, just to spend 5 minutes kicking ass and scaring the fuck out of his audience which I'm sure was a complete success. Lol

I agree. Tom never gets recognized for his bass playing. Yes, it is simple - but it is intentional and keeps everything grounded. And he always plays super tight and holds down the pocket so the other guys can go crazy and all over the place and find the way back to the groove. Under-appreciated.

I’ve gotta let you know that you and your channel has renewed my love for the guitar. I started playing again after an almost 7 year dry spell caused by years of constant gigging and touring that kinda took the fun out of it. When I say dry spell, I mean like zilch, zero, nada playing the instrument I’d loved since I was very young. I took my main LP out the other day, and gave her a long overdue set up. This Slayer vid couldn’t have come at a better time. A riff I know all too well, but I think that’s just part of being a guitar player. Btw, I never learned the rest of the tune either. Lol. Many thanks to you! 🎶🔊🙂

i think i saw the tour you mentioned. it was early nineties 90/91 and called the Clash of the Titans tour. Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Alice in Chains opened that show. it was alice's first album and you could tell most of the crowd did not know who they were, myself included. Shortly after i started to hear man in the box on the radio. One of the best shows i have ever seen. oh yeah and Megadeth was touring on the just released Rust in Peace. IMO one of the all time great metal albums.

Thank you for recording/posting these. So good. Highly recommend you check out Taz Niederauer. Think this kid isn't even 17 yet, but he is an absolute guitar prodigy along the lines of Derek Trucks, Billy Strings - even Prince. He was a guest on Ellen DeGeneres at 10, on Broadway by 12 and was throwing down the solo at Col. Bruce's 70s birthday bash when the good Colonel collapsed. A regular on the festival circuit, he is invited to sit-in with EVERYONE, including one festival in 2018 where he had his own set and guest appearances with Sister Sparrow, Greensky Bluegrass, Umphreys McGee, Tedeschi Trucks band and others. It was like he never left the stage! I chose the following link for you to react, not because it's my favorite song of his, but because he absolutely shreds the back end of the song and maybe more importantly - the camera work is almost solely dedicated to his fingerwork (which I know you'd appreciate). kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHWaYYl3bpqsiK8 Anyway - Enjoy and keep doin what you're doin.

The concert was the Clash of the Titans tour in 1990/91. If you were in Baltimore then we both were at that show at the Baltimore Arena. The bands in order were Alice in Chains as openers then Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer closed. The bands used to rotate their order. During the Slayer show there was a huge circle pit that took up half the arena floor. Security just backed away. It was my first time seeing all of those bands (I was 18 or 19) and it was incredible!
