This was the moment that finally sold me on that lineup. Everything about the performance was absolutely perfect in its execution and seemingly random nature. They were not there to sell or promote anything, just to spend 5 minutes kicking ass and scaring the fuck out of his audience which I'm sure was a complete success. Lol

I’ve gotta let you know that you and your channel has renewed my love for the guitar. I started playing again after an almost 7 year dry spell caused by years of constant gigging and touring that kinda took the fun out of it. When I say dry spell, I mean like zilch, zero, nada playing the instrument I’d loved since I was very young. I took my main LP out the other day, and gave her a long overdue set up. This Slayer vid couldn’t have come at a better time. A riff I know all too well, but I think that’s just part of being a guitar player. Btw, I never learned the rest of the tune either. Lol. Many thanks to you! 🎶🔊🙂

I agree. Tom never gets recognized for his bass playing. Yes, it is simple - but it is intentional and keeps everything grounded. And he always plays super tight and holds down the pocket so the other guys can go crazy and all over the place and find the way back to the groove. Under-appreciated.

A recognised classic now, it’s a perfect example of an intro building anticipation, which delivers and then drives on upwards! The song is both technically excellent and primal at the same time, it hits all the pleasure centres at once. File next to Ace of Spades.

I was 15 years old and it was the Seasons in the Abyss tour when I got to party with them on their tour bus and Slayer always has a special place in my heart. They've got me out of very, very dark times with their music. This is my church.

I was at the Reign In Blood concert here in "Detroit" (Royal Oak Music Theater) in 1986. Amazing! I'm sooo glad that I grew up in the era that I did. I was able to see Metallica with Cliff Burton as well. Stuff like that will never happen again, but if it does... I hope that young people can look back 35+ years and say "man... I remember seeing these icons when they played small venues". It's killer.

Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth and Alice in Chains opened that show. it was alice's first album and you could tell most of the crowd did not know who they were, myself included. Shortly after i started to hear man in the box on the radio. One of the best shows i have ever seen. oh yeah and Megadeth was touring on the just released Rust in Peace. Wow man ...I was big into Slayer way back. Saw them at Lamores in Brooklyn in 90 or so etc. Discovered (subscribed) your page from Grateful Dead reaction and breakdowns. I'm a diehard Deadhead. Anyway, Im psyched you dove into the Grateful Dead. They as you know are just as bad ass as Slayer and when we figure out why it's just so kick ass. Btw, sometimes it can be dificult and confusing, on a variety of levels but, you can put them down, take a break then when you pick them back up?! Wow. Magic.

The concert was the Clash of the Titans tour in 1990/91. If you were in Baltimore then we both were at that show at the Baltimore Arena. The bands in order were Alice in Chains as openers then Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer closed. The bands used to rotate their order. During the Slayer show there was a huge circle pit that took up half the arena floor. Security just backed away. It was my first time seeing all of those bands (I was 18 or 19) and it was incredible!

Thank you for recording/posting these. So good. Highly recommend you check out Taz Niederauer. Think this kid isn't even 17 yet, but he is an absolute guitar prodigy along the lines of Derek Trucks, Billy Strings - even Prince. He was a guest on Ellen DeGeneres at 10, on Broadway by 12 and was throwing down the solo at Col. Bruce's 70s birthday bash when the good Colonel collapsed. A regular on the festival circuit, he is invited to sit-in with EVERYONE, including one festival in 2018 where he had his own set and guest appearances with Sister Sparrow, Greensky Bluegrass, Umphreys McGee, Tedeschi Trucks band and others. It was like he never left the stage! I chose the following link for you to react, not because it's my favorite song of his, but because he absolutely shreds the back end of the song and maybe more importantly - the camera work is almost solely dedicated to his fingerwork (which I know you'd appreciate). kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHWaYYl3bpqsiK8 Anyway - Enjoy and keep doin what you're doin.
