Came for the review, stayed for the great playing: tone, dynamics, rhythm and leads, even some effects. Great review, thanks Lucas. I have now no hesitation picking one of these amps over a blues jr.

I enjoy seeing great acts of dedication and perseverance. When I was younger as a new guitarist I could feel and see the instrument, strings, fret locations and still had a hard enough time learning to play. I could not imagine learning the guitar over again without sight. Not only does Lucas Heneman have a lot of skill with the guitar, but there is also a very dynamic touch to how he plays, an incredible feel for the music. Great honest review and at the same time it was very nice on the ears as well. Thanks for the honest review!

Now that was the best demo yet of this amp. I own two of them when they were $180.00 each. (And they were the generation 2"s with the larger reverb tanks.) Once you break in the speaker and tubes they sure do come alive... I use mine all the time and they have never let me down.

Excellent playing and demo man! Needed a practice amp so I bought this amp around Christmas 2020 and it's great. Mine came with JJ's, upgraded spring reverb, and a Celestion Seventy 80. I have a 10 pedal board running through the effects loop and rarely take it out of 1 watt mode. I just couldn't justify spending twice the money on a Fender blues jr, especially when this amp will more than likely never leave my home. Great video!

This is the best review of this amp that I have listened to! As a vox player there are certain songs that I really miss the Fender sound on but it think this would definitely get me in the ballpark! What I really like is that you sounded like you no matter what guitar you played and I liked how you mixed chords and leads in your playing to show a real world example of what to expect from it. Cudos to you for your great playing and review!

This is by far the most useful review of this amp -- or practically any amp -- that I've heard, specifically credited to the quality and repertoire of your guitar playing. I don't think I've ever heard a review that featured the neck pickup on a Les Paul used so skillfully. So many other reviewers utterly fail to demonstrate an amps capability by twangy, plinky chicken plucking or palm muting or power chords that hurt the ears. Thanks for this!!

Wow, you straight up RIP. Killer guitar tone and emotion. Love what you’re doing! Thanks for a great review of this amp. I have one on the way (now $80 more than when it was first released, which I’m not surprised about at all). Yours and Dave Simpson’s reviews are the two that really showed what the amp could (and couldn’t) do. Thanks for a very informative video review. More than that, thank you for STELLAR musicianship. Can’t wait to see what music of yours I can find online.

Thanks a bunch Dan! I really appreciate this comment. You are too kind! I’m sure you will enjoy your amp when it arrives. Even $80 more it is a steel. Hey, if you’re looking for my music online I recommend the latest album by LH Express called “painting stars “. We just released it on June 2 of this year and it debuted at number one in Canada on the routes music chart. That was some exciting news for us to get. I think it’s the best album I’ve made so far, but the band released three other albums, but under the name Lucas Haneman express. You can find all four of them on the streaming platforms if you search, but I’d say start off with Painting stars by LH Express. We’ve got some videos on KZbin as well and there was a documentary made a couple of years ago. Keep on playing my friend, and certainly stay tuned to the channel for more videos. I’ve got some exciting stuff coming up in the near future!

I picked up a Peavey Classic 20 head for $350 and run it through a matching Classic 115E cab with an Eminence Big Ben 15" and I gotta say...it's got alot of the features a Revv head has...sounds amazing. I've had one of these foe about a year now. Monoprice runs sales often for 199.00 USD. Love the amp, but the tubes it came with were unbranded cheap Chinese tubes. Put in some JJ's I had laying around it made a huge difference. New tubes got rid of a lot of the backround noise and some of he fizz.

Sweet Bruce that is good to know! Maybe I’ll invest in one and try that!
@leeasbury72733 жыл бұрын
@@LucasHaneman just make sure you get the tubes from a reputable company and that they are a matched pair. Tube Depot is a good source I've used awhile back. JJ's are always a good start for power tubes. ElectroHarmonix or Groove Tubes are good 12ax preamp tubes I see alot of good stock amps ship with.
@montag45164 жыл бұрын
Hello Lucas and others... I have this amp, and yes it is good fun, portable, and really good for those mid gain Americana, Roots, and Rock tones. Not a lot of true clean tone on tap, there's always a touch of gain even at minimal settings. I swapped out preamp tube 1 for an AT12x7 for a little more headroom. The stock tubes are somewhat cheap and fragile, best to have a spare set of EL84's on hand. There are two mini trim pots inside the chassis for adjusting "bias" and "hum balance", but there's no need to adjust them unless one wishes to do so. This amp also has an effects loop, a footswitch jack for the reverb, and an extension speaker output jack. The 1 watt option is very handy for indoor solo playing and practice. That's very handy and usable. Quite remarkable how feature packed this amp is.

I have, or probably I should say "had" one of these. Sounded great. Plenty loud. After about a year ( maybe 25 hours of play time) it died. Blew a couple of fuses and then smoked some diodes. I figured it would cost too much to fix it, so I haven't gotten it repaired. The version I got is the same schematic as a Laney Cub - so maybe someday I'll get it fixed.

Hi Electric Fish; I had a similar concern as I bought this amp for my grandson when he gets old enough to play. I found a seller on Reverb that had a complete set of pc boards(2) that he pulled in order for him to make a Fender Champ to build a point to point build. So be on the look out for someone else doing the same and maybe you can find one too. Good Luck.

The first acoustic episode will come out next week, and I hopefully have something in the works for the week afterwards, but maybe sometime within the next couple of weeks we can figure something out if that works for you? Thanks Lucas - I've watched quite a few Stage Right 15 reviews and this is the most accurate one I've watched. I'll watch one once in a while just to reinforce how much I love mine. Aside from the massive tone/price ratio it's also really loud when necessary. I have done small gigs with it and it holds up fine with a drummer. I have some pretty expensive amps that are much heavier and don't sounds any better. FWIW I'm pretty sure it is a clone of a Laney Cub.

Thanks for your kind comment! I had a lot of fun reviewing this amplifier. Glad you like the playing with the Strat too! That’s one of my favourite guitars I own. Hope you stick around the channel and check out some more videos! I’m all about sound, tone, feel and being inspired by the tools we use as musicians. I am visually impaired as well, so care much more about these things than the brand of amplifier or the name on the head stock of my guitars

@@LucasHaneman thank you for your reply Lucas and I enjoyed your video so I stick around! If you don't mind me asking what is your visual impairment? I have retinitis pigmentosa got it from my dad I guess it's the recessive form of it so every time someone in the family as a kid there's a 50/50 chance. We can't we go back like generations and nobody can remember anyone but visual impairment so it's just like a bad deal of the cards you know my dad got it and then I got it and nobody else so at least for generations back we know so it is what it is I started the 27 I was diagnosed cuz I was having a little trouble talking my car at night and the yes they told me you know I have it and in the future I'd start to go blind and they were right on that one lol. But yeah I'm now 62 and you know the lights are in totally off but the most of my all of my fine side detail you know a fine detail is gone you know I still have some useful site you know but it's nothing to write home about not that I can ride anymore LOL anyway just interested in just in what your problem might be. I had stopped playing guitar and I guess it must have been 1989 just a little bit after I was diagnosed went through a little. Of time you know in a funk depressed you know pessimistic and I just stopped playing music I used to be a professional drama I picked up the guitar and tore up myself to learn how to you know put myself out to play and I impetus on that one as I wanted to write my own song music much easier with a guitar than drums lol. But yeah so I had like a 27-year gap where it hadn't touched a guitar and in 2016 I just like the came across some guitar related videos on my feet for KZbin and the I said let's take a look and see what I used that street is going for and that was it I bought a 2005 SG special. I call it my special special because it's in 2005 the specials were mainly one finishes you know not gloss so yeah this this one is in a wine red wine red it's beautiful I got the guitar it was like mint and it's nice cuz I'm not a p90s I'm not really into a single coil pickup so that much but this has the set of 490 r&t first I didn't really think I like them and I was going to swap out the bridge pickup for a mojada pick up but I've come to enjoy them and I left them in and I'm glad I did. I'm going to be putting covers on it because a blind guy needs to have shiny pickup covers right :-)? All right I'm just blowing hot air now so I'll let you go not that I have you if you know what I mean sincerely yours, Bob the blind bedroom guitars

Lucas- Great review and great playing! I'm not a guitar player by any means, my daughter plays. But I love electronics and sound, so I enjoy helping her pick out guitars, mixers, pedals, mics & amps. Even though I'm not a musician (although I played drums years ago), I fully understand what guitarists strive for regarding sound characteristics. I've probably watched about a dozen reviews on this amp, and your reviews covered and displayed the strengths and weaknesses of this amp fully and objectively. My daughter takes lessons at Sweetwater here in Fort Wayne, Indiana, so during her lessons I get to go over and play with the gear. Last week I played with the Marshall origin 20c and the Fender Blues Junior. I liked the Fender better between those 2 despite the Marshall having a little more power, I think the 12" Speaker in the Fender gave it a fuller sound. Although I don't expect this amp to be as good as the Fender, it's less than half the cost with a similar sound profile- I ordered one today and will hopefully get it tomorrow! My question to you is do you use the effects loop for your pedals or do you simply plug them in up front? Thanks again for a great review!
@LucasHaneman3 жыл бұрын
Hey George. Thanks so much for your very thoughtful and kind comment. That’s great that you are really into sound and like helping your daughter find gear! I’m sure she values your input, and certainly will thank you down the road. To be honest I did not try the effects loop on this amp, though a few people have requested that, so maybe I will be able to get my hands on it again to do that. The Pedal portion was done straight through the front end, just like I run my board most times.
@leeasbury72733 жыл бұрын
I'd run the overdrive and things like that in front...for the most part, try everything else through effects loop...and try running them in different orders if you don't love the sound. Experiment. Everyone likes different things. There's no real wrong way. But and overdrive really should go in front of the amp...to hit the preamp tubes and drive them harder...a boost really depends though...some like it first, some like it at the end...some do both lol. Just try different stuff til you like it. Write it down too if you find a good order that works, in case you try moving pedals around and forget.

A great review of one of the best affordable amps in the market. I dont know how Stage right can sell these amps for that price. The cost of the Celestion speaker and tubes is more than the price of the amp. I must say that there is a big misconception about this amp being a clone of Fender Blues Junior, which is incorrect. It is in fact a clone of Laney Cub 15, which is really close to a JCM800 preamp into an EL84 power section. The preamp gives it the Marshall flavour while EL84's provide the Voxy chime. I have modded mine closer to the JCM specs and it sounds fantastic. I love how you still managed to make it sound so bluesy with the strat. Great playing.
@LucasHaneman4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your very kind comment here! You are correct about this not being a blues Junior clone. I did as much research as I could before shooting the video but found out that that was a misconception afterwards. my bad. That aside the materials are amazing and well worth the extremely affordable price point. I was very impressed. Would love to hear your amplifier. Sounds like some cool mods. Thank you so much for watching and if you feel like subscribing, I think you will enjoy how varied the content is here. Try to keep it exciting for acoustic and electric guitar players with a range of different gear/techniques.

Thank you for your comment. I'm curious what mods did you do now if it's not too much of a time consuming or a problem the answer what the mods did you do to the amp I own one it's stock I love it it's my first two bam well actually my second but my first one was an epiphone Zafar amplifier tubes that I think it had a 15-in speaker in it it might have been it was from the 50s and when I moved to California and I had it some of the stuff that I really wanted a trip to California from New York City it got stolen somehow that and a 100-year-old bronze bed but anyway brass bed I'm sorry but anyway I really would like to know what mods you make cuz I'd like to mod mine in the future I was going to put a speaker in it a new speaker in it but I'm holding off on the speaker for the cabinet and I'm going to buy a Harley Benton vertical twin with the 2x12 with this celestion vintage 30s in it I mean it's only like another you know it's like twice what I would pay for one speaker put in the amp and send some blind I would have to pay someone to put the speaker in it so yeah I'm going for the Harley Benton 2x12 and then I'll think about modding the speaker in the actual cabinet of the stage right sorry that this went off on pageants and stuff thank you sincerely yours, Bob the blind bedroom guitarist editing thank you for your

I bought my first stage right amp about 3 years ago and loved it so much I bought a second one because I tend to like to torture myself with a stereo rig. I haven’t experienced the fizziness you describe when pushing the gain - I wonder if perhaps there was something a little funky with the particular one you got. But when I push the gain I’m headed into very credible AC/DC territory. I’ve owned fender silver face amps, an AC-30 top boost and several other oddities including the Boss Katana line and I’ve sold everything but the stage right and my fender super champ which I would sell in a heartbeat over the stage right. The speaker needs a fair amount of time to break in, JJ tubes didn’t make any noticeable difference and the other speakers I tried ended up getting pulled back out for the stock speaker. So…point is, check that fizzy thing with other owners - your ears are likely better than mine - but I’ve been so pleased with these amps over the years - especially the clarity and even mix that lets you hear every string distinctly, even when overdriving it. I’m with your wife on this one - grab one before the price goes up again (I got mine at around $200 each). Great review, glad to have found your channel. Super tasty and varied playing, bud.
