Hi Jamie, I love this guitar. I saw her again in a scene from the anime Bocchi The Rock.

The HFM is a wildly underrated instrument.

Thanks for the deep dive. The guitar is gorgeous. Very surprising that a $700 guitar has electronics of such low quality, I really dont expect to replace them in this price range. Guess they blew the budget on nice pickups and saddles.

When you do wiring for a p90/hb - a 500k pot that goes great with a HB, might 'blow out' the sound on the p90 or you'll have to dial it back. And then there's always the issue with the middle selection. It's been a while since I did wiring for that setup but I think I used one of the diagrams on seymours website for a tele single-hb schema. I can't remember if I put a resistor on the pot from the lead of the p90 to artificially halve the resistance exclusively for it's signal or if I went with a 300-325k pot. I remember finding a couple of threads out there where a tech was talking about it though, so maybe someone has a solution posted by now. I love the variation in the combo tho, it's my personal favorite and I wish more manuf would implement it.

I've been looking at one of these for a while, seen one go for £250 but it was too far to collect, there's a few for sale locally that have been listed forever around £400 but I'm going to remain patient.

Too bad most hear with their eyes. Yamaha is generally terrific , as with all guitars .....does it have luthier love & properly set up ? Smashing Pumpkins is who broke the threshold for me of thinking Yamaha guitars is for school.

I had to work on the intonation. I did not say anything because it went through Sweetwater's inspection process and as a result I don't know if it came from the factory that way. I have always had great experiences with Yamaha. My very first guitar was a Yamaha.
