Nice video. But the amp's tone is pretty bad... Especially on the Suhr guitar....

Great video, man! Gotta say, I love how involved you always are with the groove, really passes on the feeling of the room. Keep up the good work! cheers from Brazil.

I have to say I hate the tone of the Suhr in this jam -- tinny and fizzy. I'm sure it's the amp settings, as we've all heard it sound great other times. The Silver Sky sounded great.
@MarcCoteMusic6 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I've seen Pete play his signature model in a bunch of videos and it has always sounded great... here it sounds just awful, almost as though it was an amp sim but without the cabinet sim.
@chrislestermusic6 жыл бұрын
Marc Cote Honestly every clip I have heard of these amps being played at Guitcon has not been good, in my opinion. The one Pete was playing through seems the better of the two but I don't think either sounded very good. I wouldn' blame the guitars for that one.
@MarcCoteMusic6 жыл бұрын
Oh, I'm not blaming the guitars! It might be the amps, it could be that whoever dialed in the tone is incompetent. Or deaf. Or it could be a recording issue. GuitCon has not had what I would consider stellar recording gear. At least, not this year.
@scottman686 жыл бұрын
I actually think the room mic wasn't doing anyone justice. I've heard Pete in many of his live streams, and his voice usually sounds much different. I agree that tone-wise the SS sounded much better here. I'm willing to bet both guitars sounded better in the room.
@13sadowsky6 жыл бұрын
Pete thorn knows great tone. This is the amp/settings for sure.

I was initially surprised and pessimistic about the radius then I found out the Gilmour Strat’s got something like 7” radius and so the Silver Sky is relatively flat compared to that. Gilmour must have some serious killer setup to make a 7” work.
the silver sky has 7,15 so is practicañly the same as gilmours...
@drewbarries2346 жыл бұрын
Dani West oh wow, For some reason I thought The SS was like 9”. I guess if it can be set up to play without issues then that’s great.
@daniwest13706 жыл бұрын
+Drew Barries ive got a 7,15" telecaster and even do with a good set up can play decent i mutch prefer 12" of Gibsons. personally i think fender need to update their game. Even 9,5" kind of sucks in my opinion and thats what all Fenders have now a days
@lance1346796 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I'd be happy with either of those guitars. Although they're quite different, they have common ground in that they can cover lots of different styles of music, though the PT would be better for heavier stuff, while the SS does those iconic Strat sounds very well.

suhr makes a ridiculously good guitar
@nicky91guitar5 жыл бұрын
no they make ridiculously expensive guitars. I had a suhr and it was not a wooooow guitar by far. it was good but not great. for almost 4k you could get way waaaay better guitars.

@@nicky91guitar How was the quality compared to higher end production stuff like Music Man/G&L/PRS/etc? I'm curious since I never tried one, only Tom Anderson.
@RodrigoCFD5 жыл бұрын
@@MaestroJericho Music Man electronics fail quite often, and they are proprietary, when they fail you're screwed; also Music Man necks also are quite problematic, just search around. PRS guitars are awesome. I had 3 Music Man in the past (I had problem with them all), and 1 PRS Custom 24 which was awesome. Today I have one Suhr Modern, and it's the most perfect fretwork I've ever seen... construction is simply flawless, like no other... I only play my Suhr these days.

@@nicky91guitar I think you get what you pay for. Meticulously built from the best materials. Superb fret jobs etc. What alternatives you thinking for the money?
@nick_be91593 жыл бұрын
@@MaestroJericho the one I had(modern pro charcoal web) was on the same level as a Ibanez rg Prestige. I have had ESP´s that were way better made. Even the musicman Luke was nicer. I´ve had even prestiges that were better... but Suhr stepped up their game. I had an old one. Last week there was someone at my house with a Suhr (vintage strat hss) god that thing was incredible!

The Suhr Classic Pro / S gives you silent circuitry, choice of a rosewood or maple board, choice of SSS or HSS pickups, the beveled heel and chamfered lower horn, a 2 point vibrato bridge, and more color choices than the Silver Sky, all for less money. Why? Because you don't have to pay royaltie$ to the 'celebrity endor$er'.
@lancelyons18436 жыл бұрын
These are all true except that for prs quality level youre still paying 2000-2500 from suhr too. about the same as the silver sky
