There is no money to be made in new albums, original music, or performance. KZbin and social media, along with party DJs, killed all that. If there was big money to be made in performance, then all the great guitar players would be doing that. The money for guitar players in today's world is made in teaching students, KZbin ad share, and in creating courses. Of course, if you want to set yourself apart from just being a great guitar player, learn to sing! People love to hear singing, good or bad. There is just something about singing. Perhaps because the human voice is the first instrument, and that's all we hear on the radio.

Yes, also "bound". in other Romance languages like Spanish we have 'ligado' and so on. "Ligar" (It. legare) means "to tie, to bind". Of course we stick to Italian for the music term, but it's fairly easy for Romance language speakers to get the meanings of these roots.

Barely using the pic except for the first note, then the sequence is; (hammer-on)pull-off, (hammer on)pull-off & right third finger pull the next note. For motion economy he makes sure to immediately place the RH 3rd finger on the string it will be pulling next. I still think mastering picking each note is a necessary skill hut this hybrid sequencing of “pic, pull, pull & RH 3rd finger pull” has its place.

If you play harpsichord, since there is no dynamic, you do accents playing with time. Then, definitively, Holdsworth is the master of legato.

IIRC the 'connected' aspect of the legato is the significant part. If you're playing another instrument there shouldn't be any overlapping of notes, but neither gaps between notes. Also very little transient attack. Obviously some of these will happen as part of the expression but should be minimised to considered expression.
