I never stop loving "Red Barchetta." Apart from the great poetic and musical storytelling, it took me listening for years to notice that at the beginning of the song the bass introduces the melody. It is emblematic of Rush was that, for all of their technical brilliance, they were generous with each other and without the ego that prevents so many rock stars from sharing a spotlight or allowing their fellows to feature. I recently heard a story that in the 80s, The Police, to garner publicity, tried to pick a fight with Rush. Their publicity stunt was seen for what it was and The Police were politely ignored - no one in Rush took the bait. Yep.

Rush are masters, I mean masters of the transition, but oh my god! Limelight, coming out of that solo and back into the chorus? I’ve been listening to that same transition for f”in 40 years, and the hair on my arms and neck still stands up. It’s genius!

Glad your back.....and what an album to come back to. First time I heard Tom Sawyer I was walking down Tottenham Court Road in London 1981.....I heard this playing very loud in a pub and just had to go inside. Turns out some record company dude had got a copy days before the Album was released and he wanted to play it. The pub was rocking instantly........I was a big RUSH fan before that and had seen them a few times in London prior to that night......but my reaction to the first hearing was almost as good as yours. This Album is the pinnacle of of Rushs' creativity......no album really ever got near to it afterwards. Some fans will argue ,quite correctly that signals was a brilliant album but no Album before or after Moving Pictures quite had the imagination or production levels of this masterpiece.

Oh I dunno, the reactions from the 'the wolfhunterz' watching working man Cleveland and 'lost in vegas' watching la villa are very amusing, hope you've seen them lol
@ubeuonly2 жыл бұрын
@@geddylee501 of course I watch them. But there's a difference between party rockers and real musicians that can appreciate musical talents time signature changes and unique guitar riffs and complicated arrangements. All of those things had no place in good time music which are the bands I grew up with in the 80s. It's just a different animal. But this guy is very straight I'm coming from a metal background and appreciating where it all came from is much more amusing to me than Headbangers watching music for the first time

@@geddylee501 of course he's one of my faves. I'm in awe of his ability to do a companyment and pick the notes right out of the air. That's a true musician. And as always he's very complimentary of everyone unfortunately.. as a rush fan I got very into reaction videos for the last few years and what really gets me cranked is crowd response naturally. Three generations of Rush fans in my family I need even mom has been turned on to all of the Neil peart novels.. only blessed to see eight or nine shows though starting at 14 years old. Luckily the music is easily accessible for generations to come

Alex Lifeson is the master of musical storytelling through guitar, building tension and release. He was next-level shit, not just riffs, licks and solos that are cool but have no real purpose.

WB. I feel like I've been fooled once or twice in the past with respect to your re-emergence after a long hiatus, so I'll temper my expectations. With regards to Moving Pictures, side 1 is about as perfect as an album gets, but having said that I've heard all these songs so many times I find myself enjoying side 2 more the older I get.

Never, NEVER apologize for repeating a Rush track...can never get enough. The sound production, musicianship, lyricism on this album ALL came together at a peak level. The term 'masterpiece' is thrown around a lot, but this truly is one of Rush's best! Cheers!

Nice selections. Most Rush fans, sadly prefer songs like Time Stand Still over these examples. Part of the blame goes to Rush who went the way of Duran Duran, or the Thompson Twins, instead of Metallica or A7X. This resulted in the emasculation of Rush fans..
