This song is not just about a past relationship. It’s actually about the period around 2016 when the public turned on her (it’s talked about on her documentary which you’ve already watched). During that time she had a quick and very public relationship with Tom Hiddleston (“the wrong guy”), and after they broke up she started dating Joe, her current boyfriend. So the song is about the fall of her reputation and also about how having a healthy relationship with Joe is what really matters to her.

I really love the evolution of "pushed from the precipice" to "climbed right back up the cliff". It reminds me of the line in This is me trying "pulled the car off the road to the lookout, could've followed my fears all the way down" and how the things we once anxiously convinced ourselves we could never recover from if they happened can one day become stories we don't even feel the need to tell in full because they're such relatively small parts of our lives now. Great video Andrew I'm so glad someone else got the butt joke I feel so isolated and dirty for both giggling and feeling heartbroken every time i hear that line.

7:16 i would say quite the opposite. she cling to the nearest lips, like she needed company, someone to be there for her and support her and make her feel loved so she went to the first man she saw, without thinking too much about it.

this song is like the thesis statement for the reputation album And Taylor does love a deconstructed cliche in a song! I think she has said that the evermore album is about different kinds of endings, thematically

“Light my way”… One more to add to my playlist with “Eyes” by Rogue Wave, “Ooh La La” by Faces, “Golden Brown” by The Stranglers. Thanks, Andy. Long Story Short is one of my evermore favorites. The context of her saying “Long story short, I survived” is so 🥺. And the bass line after the bridge is so good!

Aggh im so jealous of patreons because they get the reddit analysis! You are so right that she took these phrases and used them to express the essence of her story so far. Its a fun song, and I did that "Uuu" sound at the guitar instrumentation too :) Always a fun time to see your videos

Beautiful version of "Light my Way." Thanks for owning your appreciation for bigger bands. I especially related to your comments about the vicarious pride we take when those we love show their courage through defending themselves. I loved the way you expressed this. Another great vid. Thank you, Andrew.

The Art of War is a very good book, one of my favorites. It has changed my life a lot, especially as someone who always love to have a plan for everything.

I love this song! I love that Taylor can use all the cliches and turn them into a wonderful story of her life. Her songwriting is amazing. Love your reaction and review of this one. Thought with it being a bit more ‘pop-y’ it wouldn’t be for you. ❤️x

Great song and a great way for her to continue to show us her self reflection. Lots of people know 2016 wasn't good for Taylor Swift and Swifties (or at least people who've heard Reputation all the way through) know that she was falling in love while dealing with the Kimye fall out and death of her reputation. But this acts as a "too long didn't read" for people who only know she was accused of lying about Kanye. She was pushed from her precipice - arguably after 1989 came out she was at the top of her career so far having swapped genres and not lost fans but gained them when KKWs edited video came out and public opinion flipped on her. Clung to the nearest lips - her brief relationship with Tom Hiddleston trying to find safe harbor in a storm but as said in Getaway Car it was always doomed (it was the wrong guy). Threw away my sword and knocked on your door - she decided to stop fighting the bad press and her attraction to Joe (her boyfriend) and they ran away together (cruel summer details the summer of fighting it and call it what you want mentions them running off and the start of her media black out. The looking better in the rear view I took as she thinks the idea/memory of her must seem better than the actual relationship. We have a habit of romanticising past relationships which Taylor's pointed out before in Wildest Dreams. I think this is her saying that once it's ended it's better to remember than while it's actually happening

Amazing reaction my friend Andrew!!....In 2017, the music world was shocked by the bursting onto the scene of a 22-year-old singer named Dimash Kudaibergen, who performed on the famous Chinese competition show for professional singers called “The Singer”... It was just It was necessary for this young man to make his first appearance, making a cover of one of the most difficult songs in the world, a famous French composition called "S.O.S. D'un Terrien En Détresse", to be considered from that moment on as the best singer in the entire planet....No one in the musical field had ever seen a human being, being able to reach vocal ranges above 7 octaves and several semitones, that is, all 88 keys of a digital piano, which reaches a little more than 7 octaves and as if that weren't enough, sing the more than 12 languages...Since then all kinds of experts (Vocal coach, analysts, singing teachers, youtubers, reactors, etc.) have dedicated themselves to reviewing their presentations to try to understand how someone can sing this way...The incredible thing is that that presentation in China was in 2017 and 5 years have passed since then, but what Dimash has done in these 5 years is to further improve his wide vocal range, which is currently practically above of the 8 octaves... The Covid pandemic stopped his concerts worldwide, all with tickets sold in just seconds, via the internet, but at the same time it ended up catapulting him to the top of popularity worldwide...Anyway, since I think you are one of those reactors who have not yet met this impressive singer, here is the link of that presentation in China in 2017, with the song S.O.S. and I would like you to mention my name as the person who recommended him to you..It is a more recent video than the others, so it does not have the same number of views as the previous ones, which have millions of views, but it is a more complete video, with an intro, subtitles in several languages and with the improved quality of audio and sound....kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHW7ZHmeot6Bl8U
