I agree, Prince was an extremely creative and talented artist. He also was renowned for his work ethics; I believe that to produce great music there’s no replacement to good old hard work.

It's exhilarating to party with a guitar like that and make everyone dance. What a simple yet intricate language and what an effect when it all stacks. So much pocket and groove you got there. Fabulous.

Is there anything outside of Ayla's musical abilities? Great technique and feel in her playing. Amazing singing voice. Command of music theory and a really good teacher. I love Ayla's "funk face" while she's playing.

Hi Ayla, thank you very much for this video! I am a big fan of your video lessons and a huge fan of Prince. This is one the best Prince tutorials out there. For me, one of the funkiest Prince songs is a little known gem called Blanche. It's got some amazing guitar parts happening.

Love it! Whole time I just envision Prince emerging from side of the frame and begin to lay down his impeccable vocal arrangement. That KISS was succinct and spot on! You did all that?🎶🌊🏄🏾♂️

Prince also was a genius when it came to finding the beauty in simplicity. Just a couple of notes but would make the absolute most of em and the air in between. Perfect example in the live version of "the question of you" live in tokyo 91 I think ? Either way you can find it on YT

Ayla, fantastic breakdown! His funkiest songs? So so many. Would love to see you analyze Erotic City. So many subtle funk riffs throughout the song. Sexy M.F. and Gett Off are two other funk favorites. When Doves Cry has a funk beat but his guitar screams delightfully, especially the intro. Please do more Prince!

Hey this is really good. Absolutely loved I wanna be your lover.. old prince hits in the feels. Such an iconic opening ! I really like musicology. I have to say though, that some of the live performances are amazingly funky. There is a more recent one in a jazz festival in monteraux 2013, very funky.. absolutely out of this world. Prince rocks
@gtoctane3 жыл бұрын
So tight!!! When I think Prince's funkiest is when the staccato strum is extra aggressive with moving bassline and octaves...and that is DMSR!

Great work, but if you listen closely to Prince’s funk guitar work, aside from the tone, the use of wah, the grace notes, all of which you nail, the magic ingredient is the swing/shuffle, even in the faster stuff. Your version is a little straighter in terms of feel. Prince knew how to make it sound relaxed and tight at the same time, which is why almost nobody can reproduce his riffs exactly. A very enjoyable vid though, thank you.

DE FRANCE : Hello and thank you very much for all your musical sharing. I like what you do but for those who really want to understand and advance it is sometimes very complicated. Either by inappropriate framing which removes information from us. or the speed of execution without explanation. yes, the sound, the energy and the teaching are there, but very little would be missing for it to be perfect. Thank you for reading me

The funkiest tunes of Prince ... hard question .. they are so many ! Besides the three U played in this video, I'd say : "Head", "Let's work", "DMSR", "Erotic city", "We can funk", "Sexy MF", " Love to the 9's", "Pop life", "Electric chair", "Strange relationship", "If I was Ur girlfriend", "Sexy dancer", "Alphabet street", "Rockhard on a funky place" (in the iconic Black album), "Controversy", "Pretty man", "Musicology", "Jam of the year" & "Come"

Anybody else ever get an expensive guitar book because the cover promised to teach The Music of Such-&-Such Artist, but instead of familiar licks and songs, it turned out to contain mostly just brief "example licks" composed by the book's unknown author "inspired by the style of Such-&-Such Artist"? Dang, that sucks.
