Thank you for the lesson! Ive never thought about starting the minor pentatonic on the 4th note and using the thumb to play the root after. You really got me thinking on this video. Much appreciation!

Hey Eddie! Great video, but I have a quick question: is there a "formula" to know which notes to start that low E string, 3-note run? For example, you're in the key of E, but your first note is an A. So if I'm in the key of A, what note would I use?
@OnwardAndEdward
@OnwardAndEdward 11 ай бұрын
If you wanted to start in the same way, then yes you would play a D (5th fret, A string)… But the only “formula” to follow is keeping within those notes that are in key. You can randomize the notes within the pattern to come up with interesting note choices.
@steved100
@steved100 11 ай бұрын
The start of the 3 note run is always found at the FOURTH of the key ... and, in terms of fretboard location, one string up (from the floor) and two frets back (away from guitar body) from the root note of whatever key you are in.

Beginner here, sorry for the dumb question. But is there a reason you're only limited to those 6 notes instead of utilizing the entire pentatonic pattern from the low E to the high E? For instance on the A pentatonic you have the A note on the 5th fret of the low E, another A on the 7th fret of the D, and another A on the 5th fret of the high E string? So couldn't you essentially use the entire pentatonic scale?

What or is there a pedal that can enhance artificial harmonics ???? I could stand to improve using pinch harmonics...
@OnwardAndEdward
@OnwardAndEdward 11 ай бұрын
Generally, more distortion will help make pinch harmonics pop out. It’s not about a specific pedal, it’s more about how much gain you’re running overall. I would try increasing the gain from your amp or whatever pedal(s) you currently have.

I like playing through a DSL 40.. Is lighter and sounds good...I have a Fender twin and a Boss Katana....I sure would like to be able to hit artificial harmonics on command like Billy Gibbons does....not easy..at least fir me anyways
