Susanne Sundfor's solo stuff is amazing. Well worth checking out. Royksopp recently released a triple album 'Profound Mysteries' and it's incredible. Many talented guest singers including Susanne. I don't know what's happening in Norway, but I'm liking it. Also check out Kalandra, Wardruna, Heilung.. ❤

Great track. They also played a phenomenal cover of Depeche Mode's "Ice Machine" on the same show which has long been a fave of mine. I know what you mean about the fusion of traditional vocal styles and modern electronic production (generally filed under "folktronica")... a while back I stumbled across this Spanish act named _Ruiseñora_ while looking for the Argentinean band of exact same name and ended up loving their EP "La Jara". Here is the title track in a live TV performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aqq7n4VuoJxoatU Not quite your average Bandcamp special I'd say... I have learned not to underestimate the Iberian peninsula in general. Really, any country with a strong folk music tradition stands a good chance of producing some gems. (Case in point, the Cranberries' classic "Zombie" heavily features a traditional Irish vocal technique called _keening.)_ Something else that might be fun to react to would be Grace Cummings' "Storm Queen" or perhaps "Raglan". kzbin.info/www/bejne/hnrMnpV6qap4l68 My tagline for the corresponding 2022 album was "How's _that_ for a voice?" _(...and I ain't kiddin' ya,_ as Derek 'Vice Grip Garage' Bieri likes to say).

I stumbled on this several years ago myself from ' recommended ' list on youtube and love the song BUT The song is far deeper than it seems on surface level ... It's a tribute to the 2011 domestic attacks in Norway by far right extremist Anders Behring Breivik , against the government , civilian population and The workers youth league summer camp in which 77 people were killed . That event happened on an island which is why' Running to the sea ' is referenced . I will add a clip in a reply to this comment I saved years ago that touched me by a witness to the event that survived ...

just five to go and you hit 1000 subscribers! great pick! this song is so beautiful - her voice is absolut phenomenal, right? and she fits to those dance beats perfectly. in my opinion she is criminally underrated. i think the title of the music show "lydverket" translates to "sound impact"
