I am a guitar player - the sound is one of the best I've heard for guitar - the electric still sounds kinda fake...

The thing to me is that the electric solo is not approached from a guitar player's perspective. If you look closely to the phrasing, the patterns, they are from a keyboard perspective. Those licks are not likely to be played from a guitar player's perspective. You would surprise how much the sound improves when you play melodies that are more likely to be played from a guitar perspective.

you have to think about finger spacing on the guitar and play pentatonic scale.

@@VSSPiano most (if not all) expensive workstation have semi weighted 61 keys, some have it on 73/some are weighted, and almost all are weighted 88 keys. Iirc roland fantom also have 61 keys semi, 88 weighted key series. Also korg kronos, besides kronos ls. Also the cheaper modx/nautilus/krome/fa series are like this. Why do i know all of this, i dont even own workstation. I only use ableton live 😔

There's just something off about the attack of each note. Any Good guitarist will tell you it is near impossible to get the same attack every note. Same with the decay. Apart from that, the timbre, harmonics and body of the sounds are Incredibly good!!

there are some softwares and vsts that make these guitar sounds that have a setting "variation" in them which randomizes those parameters your talking about, and its a knob so you can adjust the amount of variation, i wonder how it'll sound if this guy played this exact piece with those settings on.

I bought a MODX 8, because it is so lightweight, but nevertheless it has a solid hammer action. At every gig I am happy about this fact. The sound is identical to the Montage, therefore I am more than happy with my MODX.

Same here. I bought the MODX7 because it's lightweight and the sound engine is the same as the Montage. I've had mine for years since it first came out and this is my favorite keyboard.

Cool! What's really amazing on this synth is the way the synth structure is done and the motion control by the super knob. In my opinion is really a big improvement (comparing XS series or even XF) regarding sound creation possibilities combining a super advanced FM-X synthesis and the AWM2 synthesis.

Some of those sounds are very convincing even on their own. The other ones could be buried in a mix and fool most people. Good player to be able to pull that off.

You just cannot pull and bend the strings, and apply 'guitar only' special effects, on an electric piano like you can on a guitar. However, it's s good attempt, and I still enjoyed it!

I'm a YAMAHA kid, but when it comes to the electric, I think I gotta give that one to the Roland Fantom X series (can't speak on the NEW ones). Not sure if its round robin processing or what, but between the transitions from note to note, to the overall sound, it just sounds closer to the real thing (to MY ears :).

Idk why but I never like the sound of Yamaha keyboard's electric guitar (especially the distorted one), as a guy who owns a Yamaha keyboard and also plays guitar, it sounds kinda like one of those cheaply made distortion pedal imo. 😅 But this is an amazing performance tho, I love it. 😁

They sound great on their own, but don’t sit in a mix well at all - whereas Korg’s guitars sound poor on their own but sit in the mix really well - or cut through depending what you’re playing - it’s always been the way between Yam and Korg. Roland on the other hand sound awesome in a workstation composition, but not really anywhere else. Kurzweil set the benchmark for everything bread & butter, and are almost rivalled by the Kronos. Kronos is the boss though with it’s velocity layers, splits and loop-less samples per key - as a multi-FX for a DI guitar it can’t be beaten imo - but what would I know as a triangle player?

Lástima que Yamaha en lugar de sacar al mercado un Workstation que sustituyese a la serie Motif haya hecho esta incompleta serie de Montage. Salió al mercado con un secuenciador penósamente básico. Yo soy un fiel comprador desde hace muchos años de productos Yamaha. He tenido DX7, DX7 FD, EX 5, A 3000, TX 816 que me han salido muy buenos y fiables. Igualmente he sido el afortunado poseedor de productos Korg y Roland. Cuando decidí comprar un teclado para producir música sin depender del ordenador y Yamaha descontinuo los Motif quedé desolado. Tras buscar compré dos Korg Kronos que a día de hoy, creo que siguen siendo las mejores opciones para producir sin salir del teclado workstation.
