The people that gave it a thumbs down did so sitting in their stinky shit filled Levi trousers. Once they heard his heavy tone, and killer riffs, their bowels be came so loose that they shit themselves. Jumping to their feet in shock with shit running down the inside of their leg, while their over bearing mother in the back ground shouted, "what's that fucking shit smell I smell, I told you to take out the trash hours ago". And now, every time they surf the tube, their mom makes them wear a diaper. You'd be pissed too.

i met these guys back in 94 at their "dogman" CD release party at the old cactus records in houston. super nice guys. people fromhouston run into these guys all the time. ran into doug pinnick at a local gig, and he was cool as always. ty is one of the most under rated guitarist out there and he is such a great human being too!!

TONE! TONE! TONE! I was so into these guys from the 80's into the 90's! You can clearly hear the Beatles and Lifeson were huge influences on Ty. Dogman LP should've put them on top!

He's got great time. I remember reading an interview with the engineer of one of King's X's early records who said he was shocked how good Ty's time was when recording multiple tracks, and this enabled them to get a really thick, chunky sound that was still really tight. You can see it here.

@dil173 Because the guitar is tuned to drop C tuning it implies the 5th of the root scale, but changes its relationship to later chords, thereby creating the tension he talks about. He's an awesome guitarist who I've listened to since I was 21 years old!!! :P

it is a big shame to see the band mates of Xing's X's financially struggling when on the other hands some of the greatest rocks songs ever come from these great musicians.
@sonic-therapy94956 жыл бұрын
Glissmann Very well said. The fact that King’s X never soared to the moon is the biggest mystery. I never bring it up, because I get it plus everyone else always mentions their lack of “fame”. But those of us that know their secrets, we’re all the better people for having their music in our heart & soul.
@jonathangriesy46524 жыл бұрын
Agreed! Wish my pockets were deep enough that I could financially give back on the level that they gave to me with their music. It's cliche but they truly were the soundtrack of my teens and early twenties!

@jnh7311 жыл бұрын
It's so interesting to hear how a guitarist like Ty, who has predominantly played in a trio through his whole playing life, approaches riffs and melodies with a different feel than guys in larger bands. You hear whole songs when he plays, not just notes.
@sonic-therapy94956 жыл бұрын
King’s X is absolutely the greatest band in history. My music collection looks like someone with 78 personalities, but the heart of it always has been the 3 gentlemen of King’s X. I owe them an enormous debt, that I could never repay. To this point, for 28 years they’ve been my heartbeat. Also, XV is 10 years old - where’s the new album? PLEASE!!!! 😎

@captaincorgigaming7475 жыл бұрын
Definitely Mississippi. I'm from about thirty minutes away from where he grew up. As much as he's travelled I'm surprised he's kept it so strong but I can say it's probably worked to his advantage in the long run. My Dad was an MIT professor from south Mississippi and he intentionally used his accent to mislead people about his intellect.
