The seawall was failing due to the tiebacks rusting off and the old Timber wall being eaten by Treto board worms. Upon removing this wall, we found another creosote wall behind that it failed also that we had to remove. We didn’t install a new 20 foot sheet piling with 20 foot naval style piles to support the embankment.

I've been watching these videos for 4 years and still enjoy it. So thankful for the reclaim lumber and vinyl. Without you Dale, I would never have been able to build my seawall and boat slip. Very much appreciated. And I still use the reclaim lumber yard as my first stop

Thank you so much for watching my channel and your comment. We realize that not everybody is going to be able to afford to have their waterfront completely made over by a reputable company and there’s a lot of people that just like to do it themselves. That’s where my wife’s company fits in with her Reclaimed materials. Also help keep it out of the landfills. We like try to help with environment.

Interesting. I never would have thought vinyl sheet piles would hold back that well, but after seeing the tiebacks to the anchor piles it all makes sense.

Thanks for your comment and not all videos. Wright if it’s done correctly, it will work properly but there’s a lot of contractors out there. Do not know how to install it properly and gives Vinyl a bad name.

I like watching these videos, Yall do great work. Its really cool just to see the different equipment out on this one job. Between safety to tools, You have a whole arsenal of stuff. That excavator is really interesting how the arm can swivel without moving the body of the machine. I bet you have over 1 million in tools/equipment out on this job.

I am very impressed at how steady that you keep the excavator when you are working off a barge. That can be quite a trick.
@DaleWHickman

Thank you, George for watching my channel and your comment takes a little bit of training to get steady with that thing specially when you’re rocking back-and-forth on that barge action reaction.

Amazing videos with detail! From all the sea walls I’ve seen you build, how come concrete caps are almost never used?
@DaleWHickman
@DaleWHickman 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment and question. Concrete; caps really increases the cost of the seawall. It makes it hard to be competitive with some of the smaller contractors in the area. Most people just really don’t care for it. They like the synthetic top cap which allows a good pressure release during storms with the gaps in between the deck.

Hey dale, I watch all your videos and gain a lot of knowledge and ideas on how you do things compared to other companies. I live in Virginia and have been working for a marine construction company for 1 year. I have bought my own truck (2015) tundra, I have a dump trailer I purchase and I have about 6-7k in hand tools, chain saws, Trashmore pump and what not. I’m looking for what advice you may have for me for getting into the industry and what my next purchases should be. I’m currently 17 years old

Good morning Xander, sounds like you’ve got your act together for a 17 year year-old! Very proud young people these days are hard to get motivated to actually do a physical labor job. I would definitely advise you to get with a good company and get as much experience and learn as much as you can right now. I started building Doc with my dad when I was 16 years old, as far as starting your own business, you gotta make a conscience effort when you first start that you’re gonna treat your employees with respect pay them well so that you can keep them and always say what you’re going to do and do what you say. Even if it cost you money to get the job done correctly you’ve got to do it right because that is your reputation!. Thank you so much for watching my channel and your question.

Are you able to just bring the kreosote lumber to the landfill? Or can it be re-used for anything? I’m not one of those goofy environmentalists but I’m just curious if there’s a use for that stuff

Dale , Another GREAT L👀KING JOB ! Quick Question Sir , Why do these other Companies Leave these old walls of in place ? They seem to cause massive problems later , not only for the next guys But the homeowners as well, just so happens that’s the same situation I’m facing at the moment! I’m guessing it’s a money thing , can you shed some light on that situation please ? Thanks for all you and the guys DMC do ! People just don’t realize how fortunate they are to have a company like DMC at their disposal !! 👍

Thanks for watching my channel Britt It’s always a pleasure to see your comment! A lot of companies don’t have the equipment or the manpower or maybe even the knowledge how to remove the old walls. It is an expensive proposition getting the old material out then having to carry it to the front yard or put it on the barge to get it out then the cost of the dump fee. Some people, just don’t want to take the time to do it which don’t make sense because it does put unnecessary pressure on the new walls. If you keep putting walls in front of walls eventually in a canal system, you won’t have a canal!

Thanks for your comment and watching my channel you are correct if I had a read my contract a little more closely I would’ve seen that we were going to move that. I guess I overlooked at my fault. Just not perfect. 😂 plus we decided to do a whole new type installation after the wall was installed anyway. It definitely would’ve been a lot easier to install it without the lift there.

I watch because I love the interesting work. However, it’s so funny to me that we spend so much money on something that will eventually decay. This earth is destined for fire. After the return of Jesus Christ, this world is going to be destroyed. Yet, we throw money at everything and anything to secure “ our” property. It’s not ours! Everything belongs to God!
