There's no such thing as over building when it comes to the retaining walls you guys build. The guy who dug out that Norway Rat deserves a 20 dollar tip for the day ! You can make the videos longer, it won't bother me or anyone I think ? How many truckloads of backfill were required to complete the job ? Thanks Dale and thumbs up !! Hit that thumbs up people !!!

august Thank you very much I’m still trying to figure out how to upload over 15 minutes it always cuts me off. I will be installing 500 yards of dirt 25 truck loads and 120 tons of class III lime stone

@@DaleWHickman, No problem, 14 minutes is good. It would be great to show more details of the tie-backs you do and the back filling with the compaction. Keep them coming, very interesting and thanks again !

Why use tripple 2x8s ? I live on long island and most guys use 8x8 bottom whaler and 6x8 or 8x8 top whaler 2.5 treatment

Well, you've had enough time to get ready for the next category five. I hope you all have built enough seawalls to battle those big monster waves. Good Luck.

That looks like it's next to Grand Parents old house at 504 Navy Cove. There use to be a house on that lot if that is where that's at? That would explain the septic tank.

Yes you’re correct this is 506 Navy Cove Mrs. Betty‘s old place from what the neighbor tells me

@@DaleWHickman That's the dock that got my big toe as a kid,lol. Lot's of memories playing in the water there. I remember the different layers of sea wall as well. Good video. In your crew traversing the water ways, how much Sally debris are you guys running across in the water?

@@DaleWHickman Much of my family, especially cousin Hank, is impressed with your work and how far out the dock goes now. He said he helped Grand Dad with putting concrete pilings in for the old (first) boat house.

Really the most informative information for waterfront owners out there, no question about it, watched every vid multiple times. A question i have is on the various designs , what decides between vinyl+whalers, vinyl+whalers+soldiers, or vinyl with concrete cap and backfill, and now there's composite whalers and caps , are those designs spec'd by the marine engineer? I'm sure you can guess it when you go out there and there's some visual preferences, lifespan,cost differences but do you go i have x height, this type of water, soil spec this out and these are the choices then discuss plan options with the engineer. I'd guess wall height (which also determined sheetpile type and vinyl thickness), wave action, soil,, slope. I have a stupid huge lf of 4foot exposed timber wall and am in preplanning stages educating myself before i consult with an engineer.
@DaleWHickman3 жыл бұрын
Hey Wade sorry I didn’t get back with you, it’s really customers preference as far as wood/vinyl. I strongly suggest using vinyl when it’s in contact with the water because of the extended warranty it offers. When I have a wall that has an expose height of more than 5 foot I do like to go with the naval style wall with pilings in front in multiple rows of whalers. We do have an engineer that certifies the drawings for the county. If you decide to go with a concrete That is a substantial increase in price it does look good but a synthetic decking or even a wood cap does just as well of a job if installed properly. Good luck with your project

Looks like they got a bigger back yard too!
@DaleWHickman4 жыл бұрын
Just wait to you see the one I’m doing off of High Point in a few months the extra backyard will be ridiculous it’s about a 38 foot bluff. I’ve already extended one on that same road out 35 foot and they were able to put a pool in their backyard

People dont have money to do it right but they pay to have it done 4 times. Do it right the first time and you wont have to touch it again!!!
@DaleWHickman4 жыл бұрын
LB7 Wade My sentiments exactly lot cheaper to do it right the first time instead of doing it four times 👍

No need to run filter cloth behind vinyl wall right?? Your experience there’s no sand loss through the channels?
@DaleWHickman4 жыл бұрын
That is correct no filter cloth is needed, I did install filter cloth behind a vinyl wall one time due to an engineers request and it put uneven pressure on the inside corrugations causing them to bow out. If he was going to install it I would recommend filling the void‘s on the front side of filter cloth with dirt or gravel.
