@@310Pilot The expression the hair of the dog, for an alcoholic drink taken to cure a hangover, is a shortening of 'a hair of the dog that bit you'. It comes from an old belief that someone bitten by a rabid dog could be cured of rabies by taking a potion containing some of the dog's hair.

@Spec624 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily effective. Understood something "lighter" than what you indulged the night before.
@imvandenh4 жыл бұрын
Well known, but does not work for everyone unfortunately. I rarely drink these days and it's even more rare that I drink enough to feel hung over the morning after. But just like in my younger years when I drank and got drunk rather often, people still argue with me that a little hair of the dog will fix me right up. And it's usuallyt futile to explain that it has never done anything except intensify my headache and prolong the overall suffering involved in a hangover. Some folks just cannot accept that what works for them does not work for everyone, that people have different reactions to alcohol.

Not sure how I first came upon your 310 vids but now I am hooked! That's a good thing!! Just wanted to comment on "hair of the dog". Since I was exposed to heavy drinking during my youth, that term was used many times. Now, I as I remember, when one is "needing" a hair of the dog that bit you, it usually meant you are indeed hungover. However, the drink (or Hair of the Dog) must be the same drink that you were drinking the eve. before. Thus, "the one that bit you". At least, that is how it was 'splained' to me! I am so impressed by both Kevin and Jaime. You two ROCK

Hair of the dog, very common expression (and activity) here in the UK too. I remember being in a group of lads staying at someone's house once about 20 years ago after a night out on the town. The host offered us each a can of beer (big yellow cans, Hoffmeister I think) when we woke up the next morning, "hair of the dog" says my mate; "oh really, you don't like this beer?" says the host - so I guess not everyone's heard it!
