Whether on individual channels, or especially on bus channels, Gulfoss is simply incredible. If the mix was good, Gulfoss makes it almost perfect. How gently "Muddiness" is pushed away without destroying the signal is unbelievable. Yes, with a lot of work you could do it all maybe with a normal dynamic EQ, but that would be extremely time consuming. Thanks, since I got the plug-in I can concentrate more on the music and the composition/sound design.

🦉 It also needs to be loadable in RX 7. I bought it. It's great for remastering live CDs. Currently listening to Katy Perry's MTV Unplugged & it sounds like a proper studio recording.

Hi Jamal! Thanks for your comments! We are doing our best to improve Gullfoss, and we take good note of your requests. You must also know that you can choose from five different window sizes for Gullfoss: Tiny, Small, Normal, Large, and Huge. You can view and alter these window size settings by clicking on the Gullfoss logo in the screen's top-left corner. We hope that helps!

hi! gladly I finally cought it on sale! So nice, good job on that one! Was Gullfoss thought to be placed in a specific place in the mastering chain? My first guess was right before the last limiter. My second guess was right at the beginning of the chain. My thrid guess was at the beginning and at the end. I am testing, but I wanted to know, if you had something in mind, when you were creating it. Thank you in advance, all the best! In a mix, would you put it on as the first insert on a track or as the last? Very brilliant plugin from what i can tell!
@SoundtheoryLtd4 жыл бұрын
Gullfoss should always be before the final limiter, as recovered information could generate higher peak values. We recommend starting with Gullfoss as the first plugin in the master chain. You'll then need to experiment and become familiar with the capabilities to know where to go next. You might even find that bypassing other forms of master bus compression dramatically improves the overall mix once Gullfoss is enabled instead.
@tinodadon4 жыл бұрын
@@SoundtheoryLtd thanks! What about on single instruments? Would you put it on as the first insert of a chain aka gulfoss/compressor/saturation or color eq; or Compressor/Gulfoss/ saturation or color eq? This eq is so powerful from the videos I'm watching going to get the demo this weekend!

@@SoundtheoryLtd Have you guys changed your opinion on the optimal placement for Gullfoss in the master chain? I seem to remember reading a recommendation on your website that it's best to try it as the last plugin in the chain, just before the final limiter. Maybe I'm misunderstanding something? Or if I am correct, what was it that made you change your opinion? I'm just curious. It's a great plugin by the way, I love it!
@SoundtheoryLtd4 жыл бұрын
@@DannyJamesGuitar Hi! It seems the information on the website is slightly outdated. Thanks for letting us know. We are recommending to have Gullfoss before the Limiter, but also before any heavy compression. Ideally, you want to use Gullfoss hierarchically in the mix, which means use it on busses and individual instruments, too. We hope that clarifies your doubt, if you need a deeper explanation, please do not hesitate to contact our support service!

why are none commenting on the dynamic issues? The dynamics are not being improved by Gullfoss. Being an automatic dynamic eq, it just intriduces a lot of unmusical pumping. This clip has some hilarious / scary (depending on one's sort of humour) results where the presenter claim there is an improvement. Yes, some improvement, and lot of deterioration. After watching a lot of Gullfoss clips, I am convinced neither my mixes nor my mastering chains need this. Learn how to eq and compress your tracks properly, there should be no need for this plugin. It can do way more harm than good.

The plugin sounds great. If not, must be user error
@generichuman_2 жыл бұрын
The only thing I took from all your blabbering is that you haven't tried it. KZbin's compression algorithm makes it almost impossible to hear what the plugin is actually doing, so not only have you not tried it, but you've written it off before you've even really heard it, which makes your opinion worth exactly nothing.

It's not easy to control what happens with this. Better create a better mix and you don't have to do crazy stuff on mastering. In my opinion, this plugin will destroy some of the dynamics. If there is something wrong with the mix I would fix that in particular and not apply a plugin that wable chaotically over the whole place. Conclusion: do yourself a favor and never use this on mastering. It's an offence to the word itself!!!
@queenpurple84333 жыл бұрын
I find it often adds dynamics to my mixes. I hear it and it’s evident in the waveform. It only destroys dynamics if your mix isn’t good to begin with, this is not a magic make the mix work no matter what type tool. It’s a make good sounding things great and great sounding things near perfection. Even taking professionally mixed tracks from amazing artists and running it through gulfoss it still makes it sound clearer while maintaining fullness
@najinelson67423 жыл бұрын
If you have major imbalances, just mix again, no need for such an overpriced plugin
@gianocastello77063 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is way too expensive and everyone who uses such a plugin on his mixes, should take some time and think about what mixing is. If you want your mixes to sound special and unique, learn mixing your way or give it an engineer. Mixing is a creative prof. You think a plugin will make the right eq settings for your mix? Ok, maybe buy Gullfoss. If everyone used Gullfoss, well, that s where we are now, so many use Antares and Empirical Labs and you can hear it, it all sound similar boring
