Season 1 was, in many ways, a sort of SpongeBob clone, with Gumball and Darwin both sharing the annoying naive kid archetype. Season 2 turns Gumball into a cynical, sarcastic jerk, and I love it

@@MasterRation In season 1 he was a naive idiot, and most of his negative traits originated from how dumb and naive he is, not really because he was an asshole. Season 2 Gumball is smart but not wise...He makes relatively intelligent observations, has principals (most of which he doesn't follow), always cocky, arrogant, selfish, at times even racist. Season 1 Gumball and Darwin, in most cases felt like one character - both equally naive and equally energetic.

Agreed. The supporting cast felt pretty underdeveloped in the first season , but Season 2 onwards they’re all given stronger personalities

Season 2. Right off the bat, you can tell the comedy of the show boosted tremendously! However, I’ve seen a lot of people say the new designs are a bit too generic, where Season 1 was more exaggerated. I don’t know, I think there’s still a lot of character in the new designs.

Well... Gumball saying "What the What?" is an old-fashioned way people used to alternatively get away for saying "what the fuck?" So it's really clever of the writers to use it to get past the censores.

This has nothing to do with nailing people in the face with dodgeballs but back in my highschool gym class I started the locker room tradition of pantsing my one buddy just for the fun of it kept getting him when he least expected it too, others joined in until my other buddy decided to kick it up a notch and pantsed him right in front of the female student teacher smack in the middle of the gym, tradition died right then and there when he got sent to the principals and nearly suspended but holy hell was it funny
