Well mythbusters did a video on it. And certain calibers do make that sound. But the use of it for all is the biggest movie sin. Fun thing about the briefcase: it was a bug in Hitman 2 (which is where the level you're watching is from). They eventually fixed the bug so it would only go straight. Enough people spoke up in favour of the old one that they introduced the Homing Briefcase in an update and also brought it back for Hitman 3 (now renamed to Hitman: World of Assassination so you can buy and play the whole trilogy in one title). Edit: misquoted briefcase origin.

The fix wasn't that they made it only go straight. It's that it traveled faster since it was only traveling at half or a quarter speed or something like that. All thrown weapons in hitman are homing, they just travel fast enough for it not to look how the homing brief case does.

Much the same applies to chloroform, which we see used at least once in this video. It'll take a minute or so to knock someone out, they will be panicked and fighting hard, and if you do get them unconscious then they'll probably be awake or dead within a few minutes anyway. There's a reason why anaesthetists are so highly trained, and why general anaesthetic /still/ poses a non-trivial risk of death even now. Bonus: the comic-book and Hollywood trope of punching someone's lights out? That's a guaranteed concussion right there, plus a pretty high chance of death.

@DjDolHaus86 Жыл бұрын
I was discussing the viability of using similar tranquilising methods on people with a friend who's a doctor, his basic answer was that you could definitely do it using something like benzodiazepine but you'd need to know the targets weight, metabolism and a few other factors such as alcohol/drug consumption to give a safe dose and even then it'd be a couple of minutes between (obvious) impact and unconsciousness. If you had a dose made up for a big hefty dude who was a habitual opiate user and you had to change targets to a skinny teenager at the last minute then you might as well use a bullet because he's likely never going to wake up and conversely if it was the other way around and you plug the big dude with a light dose you might as well not have bothered because while he'll be groggy he's definitely not going to sleepy town any time soon.

50 cal round won't be throwing anyone backwards, but simply zip right through and move on the the next target behind them. I like the idea of cultural sharing. I never liked the idea of people having to stay in their own lane. Now I have a word for it. Cultural sharing. That’s how new ideas come about and sharing just shows how much people have a need to interact with other people. I think that’s way cool. Japan picked up tempura from the Portuguese because they thought that it was amazing and delicious that they had to make it themselves. Also Japan learnt how to refine sugar from Luis Froisas who also happens to be from Portugal. Luis gave candy to Oda Nobunaga as a gift. Oda Nobunaga loved it so much that Japan eventually learnt how to make candy themselves when before Luis, they didn’t have a way to do it already. That’s just so cool to me how people learn and get inspired by ideas they pick up from other people

@thunderpunkradio Жыл бұрын
Subsonic is slower than the speed of sound, super sonic is above the speed of sound, generally Mach 1 or above. Hypersonic is usually referred to as Mach 5, or five times the speed of sound. I meant to say "Super" instead of "Hyper" my bad.... The reason subsonic bullets are good for use with suppressors is since they don't break the sound barrier, they don't have that loud "Crack" or mini sonic boom while flying though the air.
